Ye Olde Soup Lake
Well - a slight deviation from the colour scheme here! Now this will seem a little strange considering the previous pages BUT it makes sense to me so there we go!
Recently I have (like so many others) discovered the wonders of Jane Austen and not only am I a HUGE fan of her works I also love the costumes of the time - regency gowns have some appeal over other historic costumes that I just can't explain so it's best not to try.
In Ye Olde Soup Lake we have my favourite quotes from the books, an in depth look at P&P2 (all will become clear dear sir, read on read on...) and of course pictures of regency fashions and links to other and more amazing Regency/JA sites.
My favourite book of all time: Pride & Prejudice.
And my favourite adaptation? Pride & Prejudice2
(with Colin Firth in it)!

I love the costumes in this production - they are worth watching all 5 hours for in their own right in my opinion. Not being a proffessional costumer or regency historian I can't vouch for their accuracy but I've read on other people's sites of their being very accurate so I am inclined to agree.

It's superbly cast in all respects - good performances from everyone (the actor who plays Mr Wickham went to the same drama school that my Mum graduated from last year you know!).
Locations? Brilliant - especially 'Pemberley' but we'll discuss these on the next page!
(NOW the moment we've all been waiting for (well the clued up girls anyway).... Mr Darcy and the pool.
Mmmm... 'nuff said.

"An unhappy alternative is before you, Elizabeth. From this day you must be a stranger to one of your parents. Your mother will never see you again if you do not marry Mr Collins, and I will never see you again if you do."
- Mr Bennet talking to Lizzie after Mr Collins' proposal, P&P.
Republic of Pemberley
- fantastic site for any JA enthusiast.
Some of the pictures used came from here so it's well worth a look!
Jessamyn's regency costume companion
- the first site I ever visited and is a great site for anyone interested in re-creating the fashions of the time. The inspiring images section is wicked.
Sense & Sensibility
- not the book but another great source for piccies.
Unfortunately I can't remember all the site addresses for the pictures used on here - for those that have no credits I found most sites by typing 'regency fashion plates' on Google.com. If you do that you'll find them easily!
Lizzie Bennet from P&P2
(Bloody gorgeous gown too)
Ok I figured I've said enough about P&P so I thought I'd do a quick run through of JA's other books and show you pix of various adaptations to go with them:
Northanger Abbey
Mansfield Park
Sense & Sensibility
Persuasion
Emma
How could I resist? The one & only Mr Darcy!
