Welcome to my mini witchcraft workshop! That's right - all the basics and a few simples spells to start you off!
Read on my little monkeys...
Cloaks!
Every self-respecting witch/wizard must have a good cloak.
Choose some suitable fabric (cotton or wool would be good - for summer and winter wear respectively) and pick your pattern then off you go!
There are a few good ones to use that you can get from your local dept. store (look in the catalogues - simplicty, butterick, etc) or you could just make it yourself:
Cut out a shape like a semi circle but a little bit over on each side, ask someone to help you figure out how to make a hood (how about a rectangle sewed together at the top then attach the bottom to the top of the main cape bit?) then use your imagination on how to fasten it - buttons, hook & eyes, etc...
Et voila! A cloak anyone would be proud of!!

Wands!!
Your most vital piece of equipment! Make your own by finding a twig or stick from a special looking tree (but DON'T cut it!! Find one from the floor) and carving it if you want to OR check out this uber cool shop below:
Alivan's Wandmakers

I have a wand from here (cherry and maple, 13 1/2", dragon heartstring) and I have to say it's pretty spectacular! It's certainly improved my spells of late! And the gryffindor scarf was very welcome as I seem to have lost my old one from school!
Spells!!
Ok I'm afraid I shan't go into too much detail here but if you didn't pay attention in school and have lost every book you ever owned on the subject and simply can't get to the store try this website for all your casting needs:
Harry Potter Lexicon
Community!!
As there are so few of us witches and wizards it's important that we all keep in contact with each other. For most of us this means friendships at school:
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Phoenix Castle Magic School

Enrol now if you haven't already done so and be sorted into your house, see which wand you should look for, check out diagon alley, send owls and chat to other school members!

However for the older witch/wizard looking for new company there's another great place to try:
UK Pagan

Here you can chat to older fellow pagans, discover new sites to explore and have all your deepest magical questions answered! Though they are good and wise people they are fully capable witches/wizards and have all completed training up to NEWT standard so I wouldn't mock them or jeer them in any way. Should you do this it will result in explusion from the entire wizarding community.

You have been warned.
Welcome to the magical world!
Magical Equipment!!
Of course there's more to magic than waving a wand about - potions, divination, herbology... they all require skill with other instruments and your mind!
Your first stop for online supplies (if diagon alley is closed for the day!) should be:
New Moon Occult Shop
