After high school, Diane attended SUNY Geneseo and studied education. In her first year there, she met Richard "Dick" McClements. They married in August 1965, just before their senior year in college. After both graduated from SUNY Geneseo, Dick entered the Navy and they moved to Illinois. Diane worked as a teacher until she had Shelley Jean in 1969 and Carrie Louise in 1972. When their tour in Illinois was over, Diane and Dick moved back to the Rochester area. Diane continued to work as a special education teacher while Dick received his Doctorate in Education from SUNY Buffalo. Dick worked his way up from Business Administrator to Superintendent of Schools, which required numerous moves throughout New York State and then Mississippi. Luckily, Diane's teaching degree always came in handy and she was easily able to find a job.
Diane and Dick divorced in 1997, and Diane moved back home to the Geneseo area to be close to her family. She became reunited with her high school boyfriend John LeClair, and they married in November 1999. They are currently working on their dream house on Conesus Lake, which John designed and is building with his own two hands. Until its completion, John and Diane live at 105 Longview Ave., Livonia.
Diane retired from teaching in 2003 and enjoys spending her days puttering around, watching QVC shopping channel, exercising to Leslie Sansone, and attending to various duties at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church. Diane and John have 6 grandchildren, all little boys!
Diane has always enjoyed word puzzles and completing the New York Times Crosswords. To see a poem she wrote for her father's 65th birthday, click here.
