After high school, Jeanne took 2 years worth of business courses at RIT. She worked for Marine Midland Trust Company and then worked for MCC in Human Resources. She met Chuck Dobson, her future husband, there since he was a book peddler. She and Chuck raised Afghan breed dogs. Unfortunately, Chuck died rather young of cancer.
Jeanne met Stuart Bernstein through a mutual friend from Nalge Corp. They married after a short courtship in 1977. Due to Stu's job with Control Data, they lived in Iran during the volatile time leading to the Shah's downfall. They traveled extensively throughout the world, often through sales awards from Stu's job. In 1979, they fled Iran and came back to the United States. They settled in Irondequoit, near Rochester, and began to have Stu's only son Adam live with them during the summers. A few years later, they moved to the Boston area. Throughout that time, Jeanne worked in real estate and for Diet Workshop (she even appeared in their newspaper ads as a success story!). In the late 1980's, Jeanne bravely faced a problem with alcoholism and has been sober since.
Jeanne and Stu divorced in 1994 after 17 years of marriage. Jeanne moved home to Conesus Lake and resides on Pebble Beach Road, across from her brother Jim's cottage. She is an avid golfer and walker, and spends time with her beau Dick Winterroth. Jeanne has always been a cat lover, and currently lives with 3 cats. Her past companions have included "Muffin", "Bam-Bam" and "Roonies". Jeanne was called "Snicksey" by her father, and is called "Beenzie" by many to this day.
