BITTER ECSTACY
by Amy Lim
where fore are those lips that parted in celestial smiles and breathed the language nectar-sweet ambrosia of the gods? wherefore are thsoe eyes that gazed through pools of love unbounded conceiling mysteries of all tomorrows that span eternity's page? the stillness mocks me with bitter spite scorns at tormented longings while desperate and wanting i vainly await even the flicker of response ..... i grope in darkness smitten by pangs of bitter agony lashed by torrents of dire circumstance hoping against hope and reality pursuing this fruitless search - icy fingers touch my heartstrings on winter midnight quivering they faintly whisper through the somber chill "here i am ..... unknown, unseen!" i see you not but your earie presence is there unconceived - ah. numbness, bitter-sweet pain i pine ..... Forevermore ..... August 6, 1966
