Stamping TOTW:
Coloring Skin tones
This came to me from a
member on the list who wants to know:
What color pencils do you use for skin tones? Markers?
Can you use blender pens with the pencils?
Will blender pencils help to minimize the streaks?
What is the difference between a blender pencil and a stump?
Sandy~~
What color pencils do you
use for skin tones?
If using pencils, I use the Prismacolor peach PC939
Markers?
My marker I use for skin tones is Tombow #800. It's a very light pink, or the
Tombow 942 which is a very light beige
Can you use blender pens with the pencils?
yes
Will blender pencils help to minimize the streaks?
yes again, they work very well. You can also use a blender pen with pencils
Jennifer~~
What color pencils do you
use for skin tones?
Haven't found one that I truely like for Skin tone
Markers?
Stampin up Blush Blossom - The only one I use!!!
Can you use blender pens with the pencils?
Yes as long as they are watercolor pencils - at least to my knowledge
Will blender pencils help to minimize the streaks?
Using the blender pen with WC pencils will make it look like you watercolored it
neatly.

What color pencils do you
use for skin tones? Markers?
I tend to use the really pale markers or watercolors. As I tend to do the
"cute" style of stamp I don't have to achieve a "realistic"
skin tone.
Debby~~
What color pencils do you
use for skin tones? Markers?
Still haven't found a pencil or marker that I particularly like for skin tone.
Many times though I will blend with my caulks the skin and use my markers or
pencils for the other parts of the image.
Can you use blender pens with the pencils?
I use my Dove blender with everything, my watercolor pencils, tombow markers and
caulks. Love it.
Jody~~
The ones I have are white
and look like rolled up paper (real tight) and sharpened to a point. I think you
just rub the stump over what you have colored with your pencils and it just
blends it together. I believe you can sharpen them to make them clean again.
Colleen~~
Here is the URL for
Gingerwood and her information on pencils. The bottom of page 2 and the top of
page 3 she talks about using the Blending Stumps. I found mine at Wal-Mart where
the paint brushes are. They were about $1.00, but they only had the 9.5 mm size.
I think you could probably pick them up at a good art store.
