The Goat in the Rug

1.      design-a pattern of form or color

2.    dye-a liquid used to color cloth

3.    weave-to make cloth by lacing threads over and under each other

4.    wool-the thick, soft hair taken from sheep or some kinds of goats and used to make rugs and clothing

5.    thoroughly-completely; without skipping anything

 

Thunder Cake

1.      weather-the way things are outside

2.    distance-a place far away

3.    measured-used the exact amounts as directed

4.    ingredients-things listed in a recipe that are mixed together to make something

5.    lightning-a sudden flash of light in the sky that happens during a storm

6.    recipe-a list of ingredients and directions for making a food

 

Ant Cities

1.      alive-living; not dead

2.    built-made something; put something together

3.    disturb-to bother or upset

4.    themselves-their own selves

5.    tunnels-long, narrow spaces dug underground

 

Ibis: A True Whale Story

1.      coast-land at the edge of the sea

2.    curious-very interested to learn to know more

3.    fought-tried very hard

4.    surface-the top of the water, where the water meets the air

5.    forced-made someone do something

6.    tangled-twisted and trapped

 

Sam the Sea Cow

1.      cries-loud shouts or calls

2.    harmless-causing no harm or damage

3.    explore-to go into new or unknown places

4.    weighs-measures how heavy something or someone is

5.    finally-at last

6.    noise-a loud sound
