CLASSROOM RULES
Our classroom rules help our class to function effectively and to achieve goals and objectives.
Parents, please review these rules with your child and I will do the same in the classroom. If any questions or concerns arise, please do not hesitate to contact me.
South of Dan Elementary School Discipline Plan
Rationale
In order for students to excel in academics, grow emotionally, and become contributing members of society, they must realize limits and learn that rules apply to everyone. We therefore set forth our plan of establishing and encouraging acceptable behavior for all students in our care. This plan will be followed and upheld by all members of our staff.
School Rules
1. We are polite to everyone.
2. We listen and follow directions.
3. We raise our hand before we walk, talk, or touch.
4. We walk and use quiet voices in the building.
5. We take care of the things we use.
Consequences
When these rules are not followed, the following consequences will be initiated:
1. A verbal warning will be given for the first offense.
2. A behavior note will be sent home for the second offense. This note will require a parent’s signature.
3. The student will be given a five-minute “time out” for the third offense.
4. For the fourth offense, the principal will talk with the child and call his parents, or send a letter home by mail.
In all instances the Code of Conduct for Halifax County Public Schools will be observed. In cases of severe infractions, the principal will be notified immediately without proceeding through the steps listed above.
Rewards
If a student follows the rules, the following reward system will apply:
1. Each day that a student shows good behavior, he earns a “behavior buck”. These will be collected by students and exchanged for prizes.
2. An event will be held at the end of each grading period to reward students who have consistently shown good behavior during that time.
3. Certificates will be placed in each student’s report card to recognize good behavior.
