|
1 ¶ If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell
it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
2 If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there
shall no blood be shed for him. 3 If the sun be risen upon him,
there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution;
if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. 4 If the
theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or
ass, or sheep; he shall restore double. 5 If a man shall cause a
field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall
feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of
the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution. 6 If fire
break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the
standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled
the fire shall surely make restitution.
7 ¶If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep,
and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found,
let him pay double. 8 If the thief be not found, then the master
of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he
have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods. 9 For all manner of
trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment,
or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be
his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and
whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
10 If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep,
or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no
man seeing it: 11 Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them
both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods;
and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make
it good. 12 And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution
unto the owner thereof. 13 If it be torn in pieces, then let him
bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was
torn. 14 And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt,
or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make
it good. 15 But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make
it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.
16 ¶And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with
her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife. 17 If her father
utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according
to the dowry of virgins. 18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
19 Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death. 20
He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall
be utterly destroyed. 21 Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor
oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. 22 Ye shall
not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. 23 If thou afflict them
in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their
cry; 24 And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the
sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
25 ¶If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee,
thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon
him usury. 26 If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge,
thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down: 27 For
that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein
shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me,
that I will hear; for I am gracious. 28 Thou shalt not revile the
gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people. 29 Thou shalt not delay
to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn
of thy sons shalt thou give unto me. 30 Likewise shalt thou do with
thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his
dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me. 31 And ye shall be
holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of
beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.

1 ¶ Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks:
for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare. 2 When I shall
receive the congregation I will judge uprightly. 3 The earth and
all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars
of it. Selah. 4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to
the wicked, Lift not up the horn: 5 Lift not up your horn on high:
speak not with a stiff neck.
6 ¶For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west,
nor from the south. 7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one,
and setteth up another. 8 For in the hand of the LORD there is a
cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth
out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth
shall wring them out, and drink them. 9 But I will declare for ever;
I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. 10 All the horns of the
wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall
be exalted.

|
1 ¶ In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel. 2 In Salem
also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion. 3 There
brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the
battle. Selah. 4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains
of prey. 5 The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep:
and none of the men of might have found their hands. 6 At thy rebuke,
O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead
sleep.
7 ¶Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight
when once thou art angry? 8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard
from heaven; the earth feared, and was still, 9 When God arose to
judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah. 10 Surely the
wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou
restrain. 11 Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be
round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the
kings of the earth.

1 ¶In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing
to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,
2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been
with me three days, and have nothing to eat: 3 And if I send them
away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for
divers of them came from far. 4 And his disciples answered him,
From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
5 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he
took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his
disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
7 And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded
to set them also before them. 8 So they did eat, and were filled:
and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent
them away.
10 ¶And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and
came into the parts of Dalmanutha. 11 And the Pharisees came forth,
and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven,
tempting him. 12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith,
Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you,
There shall no sign be given unto this generation. 13 And he left
them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.
14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they
in the ship with them more than one loaf. 15 And he charged them,
saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of
the leaven of Herod. 16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying,
It is because we have no bread. 17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith
unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye
not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened? 18
Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye
not remember? 19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand,
how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him,
Twelve. 20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets
full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven. 21 And he said
unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
22 ¶And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto
him, and besought him to touch him. 23 And he took the blind man
by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on
his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. 25 After
that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up:
and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. 26 And he sent him
away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it
to any in the town.
27 ¶And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea
Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them,
Whom do men say that I am? 28 And they answered, John the Baptist:
but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets. 29 And he
saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth
and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ. 30 And he charged them
that they should tell no man of him. 31 And he began to teach them,
that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of
the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed,
and after three days rise again. 32 And he spake that saying openly.
And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. 33 But when he had
turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying,
Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that
be of God, but the things that be of men. 34 And when he had called
the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them,
Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up
his cross, and follow me. 35 For whosoever will save his life shall
lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's,
the same shall save it. 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he
shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall
a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 Whosoever therefore shall
be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation;
of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the
glory of his Father with the holy angels.
