Current Turn: April, 1633

ollowing the military setbacks in Lorraine during March, the French High Command elected to redouble its efforts in the region and break through the enemy lines.  Confident in its course of action, General Follie and his general staff began enjoying the good life afforded by the occupation of the City of Nancy, blissfully unaware of the events in the field.

Meanwhile, back in Paris, word of the French forces routing from the field and several ranking officers (notably JLB and AldG) were captured by enemy troops.  His Majesty, outraged by General Follie's incompetence, has departed Paris for the Front.

At the same time, Foreign Minister Eduoard Grimaud has left Paris for the city of Strasbourg to meet with Habsburg diplomats to negotiate a peaceful settlement between France and Germany.  These efforts are made toothless, however, with news of the events at the Front.  While the war does not intensify, neither does it abate, and plans are made for a summer offensive.

For all the news, read the Paris Gazette, peruse the Mistress Table or perhaps browse the Clubs Roster to seek out friends. For the martially inclined, may we recommend the Regimental Rolls for smaller units, or the Army Roster for the more strategically-minded.  At last, of course, you may wish to add a sálon or commedia de l'Arte to your month by examining the Social Calendar.  You may even wish to know whose favor to curry this month, as you will learn in the Governmental Archive, or how your neighbors, friends and enemies rank, as you may discover in the Social Register.  Please feel free to avail yourself to any and all of these resources.
