Introduction

eath Before Dishonor is a game set in France of the seventeenth century, a time when honor was of paramount importance.  Players will create characters from lowly peasants to lofty nobles to embark on a career of dash and intrigue, romance and bloody war.  The setting is the timeless city of Paris, where jovial laughter and warm cameraderie is but a breath away from deadly duels and veiled plots.

Character Creation

layers may join the game at any time.  The steps are simple: join the DBD e-mail list on Yahoo Groups, then follow the instructions on the Character Registration page on this site.  The GM will e-mail you back with statistics and basic background.  Then simply write to the list, fill in some background color for your new character, and... Welcome to Paris!

Time Sequence

ach game turn represents one month in game time.  It is broken down into six discrete steps: before-month actions, four weekly actions, and a post-month action (usually dueling).  Players are expected to write orders for their characters and e-mail them to the GM by the date at the foot of the monthly Paris Gazette newsletter.  Failure to do so may mean your character has done nothing, or worse -- send your character to the Front!

On the average, there is a three-week period to role-play online and make up your orders, then one to two weeks for the next issue of the Gazette.  As the turn adjudication is being done by hand currently, the turnaround is two to three weeks.

Atmosphere

his site and its contents have been laid out to be at least suggestive of its subject matter.  That being the case, however, there is a limit to the resources of the designer and the patience of the browser.  If you should have a suggestion or comment for the improvement of this site, please e-mail me.

The music on this page is a piece entitled "Walsingham" from the Elizabethan-age Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, and appears courtesy NetStrider.
