Ever beware when it is '50% off all books' day at Goodwill. Just acquired:

Neato*Nifty*Wow (read hilarious) websites of the day: Cthulhu's XML Lesson (Chthushi! :::snicker:::) and "The next time you think, think Fertnel!" Be sure to check out the 80psi Cheeze Snack Delivery System, Liquid meat (It cooks up just like real meat with savory flavors, fat, cholesterol and even gristle!) and the Fertnel Shiatsu Cheeze drops.

LOOK AT THE DANCING BEARS

I got a treat today (Well, alright, it was required for class but it was still a treat!) My Intro to Theater class went to see 'The Arkansaw Bear' at the Nashville Children's Theatre. The seats were so tiny ~ I think I truly know what it is to be a sardine. Of course, we so-called adults were the minority ~ the place was absolutely packed with kids from all over Middle Tennessee.

The play itself dealt with death. It begins with Tish, who wants to bring her grandfather some flowers but learns instead that he is near death. She runs to her secret spot on top of the hill, where a huge, old tree is and makes a wish on the first star out ~ who grants it. Not long after, an old bear and a mime come through the woods. The old bear is the World's Greatest Dancing Bear but he is also near death. His heart is worn out. Death arrives in the guise of the Grand Ringmaster from a circus (who only the bear can see) and Tish decides to help the bear run. When it's apparent that they can't run, Death grants the old bear life until Midnight so that he can pass on his dances to someone else. Midnight approaches and no one has been found, so Tish tells them to wish upon a star (One of the funny moments comes when the mime is doing the wishing, silently of course, and the star says, "Louder!") ~ and Death is sealed into the old tree until morning. Dancing Bear passes his dances on to Little Bear, who happens to pass by on his way to the river and makes his peace with Death. The mime becomes friends with Little Bear and they leave, because Little Bear, now known as the Arkansaw Bear, promised the old bear to carry on. Tish goes back home to learn that Grandpa has died but instead of being sad, she consoles her mother.

Boy ~ that was a riveting paragraph, wasn't it? Despite that, it was a great show. It made me want to try acting even more. I may suck at it ~ but I want to try.

At least the theater review will be relatively easy (I know, famous last words.) It only has to be about 500 words.
