I don't believe in hell. I don't have to ~ we've got Summer in the South. I know it keeps me too lethargic to do much wrong. It climbed to the mid 80's today and I can see that this may be another summer that has the potential to prove my theory about spontaneous combustion.
Now for the big news:
I WON THE $700 ART SCHOLARSHIP!!!
I am still tripping on that ~ I WON! It took me looking at the list twice before I saw my name after the sentence "The winner of the Art Scholarship is..." After the shock and disbelief wore off, the smile would not leave my face. I've never won anything so large before. I keep sounding like a valley girl: Oh. My. God. Oh. My. God. Oh. My. God.
I also got three pieces into the student exhibition with honorable mentions ~ the two abstracts that I went through a ream of paper to get and my painting of Banapis. Banny is loose on the World Wide Web. Go girl!
This coupled with the complement I got from my english comp instructor about my next paper on "What is art?" ("Just throw in some references to show me that you know how to cite them. You're an artist ~ you're the expert for this paper.") it was a damn good day.
Oh. My. God.
