Hardware - Technical Problems
The Xbox 360 is an excellent gaming system but is not without its faults. Over the last few years on sale the a large number of owners have complained of their 360s dying, the 360 changes from a green ring of light around the power button to 3 flashing red lights . The problem has been so widespread that it gained notoriety as "The Red Ring of Death" or RROD. The failure rate was deemed high enough that Microsoft extended the warranty to 3 years to cover this fault.
.The problem has become somewhat of a joke in the world of gaming that internet parodies. G4TV a popular American Cable TV station even produced a parody song performed by one of the co-presenters of their program, Attack of the Show.

Another fault of the system that is not as heavily documented is the Xbox 360 scratching game discs, some consumers complained about rounded scratches in discs played in their Xbox 360. In February 2007, the website "The Llamma's Adventures" investigated the matter and concluded that some Xbox 360 drives lack a mechanism to secure the disc solidly in place. Tilting or moving consoles with these drives, when operating with a disc spinning inside, can potentially cause damage to the disc, in some cases rendering the disc unusable. Although this problem is not covered by the warranty, Microsoft's Xbox Disc Replacement Program will replace any scratched discs that are published in countries where the Xbox was originally sold, and released a list of games that qualify for replacement.
