Dedicating this page to Marathi and Maharashtrians. It's very sad that most of the Maharashtrains don't have any respect for their language. They hate their languge or rather ashmed of speaking in their own language.
Let's learn something from Japaease and Russians. The way they love their language. The pride they take in using their language.Being in Mumbai I have seen people of some other communities speaking in a very good marathi, and they say they like this language.
The Marathi culture has a very rich heritage and so is the language.This language has it's roots in Sanskrit.
This is also a very forceful language. The fact could be verified if you listen to speeches by Lokmanya Tilak or Swatantryaveer Sawarkar. Many legends been born in this culture. Right from Shivaji Maharaj to Swatantryaveer Savarkar and from Lata Mageshkar to Jayantarao Naralikar.
Lot of hilarious literature been written in Marathi by Pula Deshpade, Pralhad Keshav Atre.I would say this is the best language for comedy.The language is as simple as it is complicated. So be proud of your language guys.
Marathi manoos was always concieved in terms of a clerk or a government servent. Things have definely changed over the years. Marathi manoos been seen at more responsible positions. Today he is a part of the Software revolution in India. But still the Marathi Manoos fails to take risk. Fails to talk where he should. Fails to promote his own community. Fails to use his hard work in a smart way. Gets involved into unnecessary politics.
No doubt he is intelligent and hardworking. But then he shoudn't restrict his horizons.To be part of the global community,to be a proud citizen of strong India , he should learn a lot from other communities worldwide.Adapt to new standards, measures.Things are improving.With globalisation it has become clear that the world can't go ahead without these intelligent Maharshtrians. They are part of Nasa, Intel, Microsoft and even owners of some of the software ventures in US.Three Cheers guys !!.
Cheers for even those Marathi girls,who have shown their spark through beauty pageant contests and films.
Please do not discourage them.Let's be proud of them.Let's not say that, it's not our area.
The delicacies and recipes in Marathi culture are equally rich. You have Sol Kadhi to Maasalicha Kaalvan, from Bharlele Sarrange to Kombdi wade,from Pooran poli to Alu wadi and from Chivda to Chakalya.
