| 121. Two to Go Buffy, Xander and Anya are running through the woods, trying to get back to Xanders car. They are all sickened by what they have just seen Willow do, and they realise that Willow intends to kill Jonathan and Andrew, who are in custody at the Jail. Anya points out that it will take Willow a while to fly over there, while she can teleport straight there. She vanishes. When Buffy and Xander get to the car, they find that Willow has got there first and totaly trashed it. Buffy takes off at a run for the jailhouse, leaving Xander standing uselessly by his wrecked car. Jonathan and Andrew are bickering and wrestling in their jail cell when Anya appears and forces them apart with a blast of energy. Anya shouts to the guard and tells the two remaining nerds about what has happened. She explains that Willow killed Warren and that now she's after them. When the guard appears he is confused by Anyas prescence in the cell. He becomes even more confused when Anya teleports herself out of the cell and next to him! She tries to persuade him to release the two nerds, explaining that 'something bad' is on its way. Outside the jailhouse Willow arrives in a cloud of smoke and lightning. She tells a nearby policeman to 'take a nap' and he promptly falls asleep. Willow stares up at the jailhouse wall. Anya is trying to convince the guard to let Jonathan and Andrew out of their cell, when the wall of the cell starts to come apart, brick by brick. Willow is standing outside, easily Keeping the cops at bay while pulling down the cell wall. Buffy appears, peering round the corner she sees Willow dismantling the jailhouse. Kicking down the door in a side entrance to the jailhouse, Buffy runs in, in an attempt to get to the two nerds before Willow. Willow has finaly managed to make the hole in the cell wall big enough. She flies up and into the jail. The nerds are gone, the bars of their cell bent, clueing Willow in on who helped them escape. Buffy! Anya, who is still there tries to reason with Willow, but Willow lets loose a bolt of glowing magic at her and knocks her out. Willow, rage driven, lets out an ear piercing shriek of anger. Outside, the shriek is heard by Buffy, Andrew and Jonathan, who are trying to think of a way to escape. Luckily, Xander pulls up in a police car and they make their getaway. In the car, they all wonder why Willow doesn't just kill them quickly. Suddenly the car is rocked from an impact behind them.Looking back, they see a huge truck, with Willow standing on top of the drivers cab, controlling it. She's trying to crash it into them! Jonathan notices that Willow is showing strain, and comments that her magic is draining. He is proved right when Willow collapses onto the cab roof and the truck is released from Willows control.Seizing this opportunity, the Scoobies make their escape and head off to the Magic shop. In the African cave, Spike is being asked by the Demon if he understands the test. Spike confirms that he does. If he passes, he gets what he wants. The first test starts. In walks a huge human figure, bare chested and raring for a fight. Spike is confident that he can beat this opponent. Suddenly, the opponent bangs his fists together, and they burst into balls of fire. Spikes eyes go wide with surprise and dismay and the battle begins! Dawn has managed to talk a reluctant Clem, into helping her look for Racks place. Clem is nervous and points out that Rack is bad news, but Dawn will not be dissuaded. Back at the Magic shop, the gang are dismayed to find all the magic books empty. Anya, however, tells them that Willow didn't get everything. There is a protection spell left. The only problem is that it is in ancient Summerian, which none of them can speak. She and Xander set about attempting to slowly translate it! Rack smiles slowly as Willow walks into his room. He walks over to her and leaning in very close, creepily begins to tell her that she's grown and that now she smells like 'ripe' strawberries. He asks her what she wants. Willow replys 'just to take a little tour' as she places her hand on his chest and begins to, painfuly, drain him of power! Dawn and Clem arrive in Racks anteroom. Clem is unwilling to enter Racks private room, so Dawn goes in Alone. The room at first seems deserted, but, when she turns round, Dawn is confronted by an obviousley dead Rack, suspended upside down. She lets out a squeal of terror. Rushing to escape through the door, Dawn is stopped by black eyed Willow, who greets her with 'hello cutie'! Dawn shows concern for Willow, but Will is too far gone with the magics to take notice. slowly advancing on Dawn, she nastily offers to change her back into a ball of glowing energy, commenting that at least that way they would all be free of Dawns constant whining.Before Willow is able to make good her threat, Buffy arrives, and warns her old friend to stay away from Dawn. Anya ,Xander and Jonathon are all bickering in the magic shop, as Anya struggles to translate the text in the magic book. Andrew tries to talk Jonathan into using the remaining magic supplies to escape, but Jonathan, finally having enough of his friends schemes, attacks him and tells him to grow up! Andrew points out that The Dark Willow they are seeing now, doesn't seem to care about her friends, a comment that Anya agrees with. Xander comments that Willow and Anya now have something in common. Anyas reply is that she does care if Xander lives or dies, she's just not sure which one. She also tells Xander that he's safe from her vengeance spells! Back at Racks place, Willow is mocking her old self, and when Buffy tries to defend 'old willow' dark Willow starts to tell Buffy some nasty home truths. She points out that Buffy is just as unhappy with being back in the world as she is. The room begins to turn slowly and Buffy stumbles and then collapses with Dawn. Willow has magicly transported them to the magic shop! Xander, Jonathon and Andrew look on in terror as Willow unleashes a bolt of energy at the two remaining nerds! Fortunately for them, the spell is deflected, Willow tries again, with no success! Anya, hidden in a corner of the shop, has managed to get the protection spell working. She continues to chant quietly, unnoticed by Willow! As Andrew and Jonathon make a bid for escape, Willow slams the door in their faces. In his African cave, Spike is still battling the demon with the firey hands. He is being badly burned and thrown around, but is still not beaten.Managing to get the demon on the ground, he grabs hold of its head and with a huge effort, twists it round, breaking it's neck. Spikes triumph is shortlived however, when he learns that that was only the first of many tests! In the magic shop, Willows spells are still proving innefectual against The nerds ( who have now armed themselves with swords), trying a different aproach, Willow casts a spell on herself to make her super strong. Advancing on the nerds, she is confronted by Buffy. Willow punches Buffy, sending her across the room, and then continues to advance on Jonathon and Andrew. Buffy again puts herself between the nerds and punches Willow across the room and into a display cabinet! Xander, Dawn and the two geeks take this opportunity to make their escape. Anya, however, bravely decides to stay and continue the protection spell. Buffy and Willow fight and both seem to be fairly evenly matched, with Willow occasionaly helping herself along with bursts of magic. In the street Xander and the others are trying to figure out where to go. Johnathon and Andrew start bickering and after a bit of nastiness involving Andrew and the sword, Jonathon tells them that if they get out of this alive, he's willing to do his time for the bad stuff that they've done! Willow has finaly gained the upper hand over Buffy, who she has thrown into a corner of the magic shop. Turning around, Willow spots the now terrified Anya, still feverishly chanting the protection spell! The superstrong Wiccan grabs Anya around the neck, lifting her high off the floor before sending her crashing into a bookcase, where she lies unconscious! Willow is now free of the protection spell! Buffy, who has regained consciousness, again attacks Willow, but this time she is no match for the powerful witch. Training her magical energy at Buffy, she gleefully directs a powerful burst of magical energy at her. Buffy flies backward and crashes hard into a display case. Willow gloatingly states "And there's no one in the world who has the power to stop me now." Suddenly, Willow is struck by a powerful blast of green magic, which sends her flying through the air and into a wall. Giles is standing in the doorway of the wrecked magic shop, lookind grim and determined. "I'd like to test that theory" he says! Episode summary by Spacenewt |
