| 115. As You Were. Buffy is spending a dull evening working at the doublemeat Palace. During a conversation with another employee she lets slip that she has re-aplied to college! On her way home from work, she encounters a Vampire in the Graveyard. During the ensuing fight the Vampire backs away from her, complaining about her Doublemeat smell! Buffy is hurt by his comment and stakes him. Outside her house she finds Spike, who has been lurking behind the tree in her front garden. After a little banter she is persuaded into some outdoor lovemaking! Finaly inside her house, she hands Dawn a very squashed Doublemeat Burger that she has brought home for her. Dawn is less than thrilled and tactfuly tells Buffy that she is getting sick of DMP burgers! Willow enters the kitchen and after a small chat, she and Dawn head off to the Bronze for a night of fun! At the Bronze, Anya and Xander are worrying and bickering about their upcoming wedding! Willow and Dawn joke about the 'happy couple' and then talk about Tara. Willow is optimistic, as Tara will actualy talk to her now and not hang up the 'phone if Willow rings her! At the house the next morning Buffy is late for the rubbish collection, her day gradualy becomes worse when she receives a reply to her college application in the mail. She has been turned down. Later that day Buffy is working at the counter of the DMP, when she looks up to greet a customer, she finds herself staring at ....Riley Finn! Riley tells Buffy that he needs her help and Buffy, with very little hesitation, leaves the DMP and goes off with Riley! Outside Riley explains that he has been tracking a Suvolte Demon, which if it manages to lay eggs will be incredibly bad news! They spot the Demon and attack it, unfortunately it escapes them, but not before Riley has managed to shoot a tracker dart into it! They follow the signal in Rileys van. While Buffy changes into Black combat gear they talk very briefly and in no great depth! Riley tells Buffy that there is no one else he could ask for help! Anya and Xander are having a worried conversation in their car. They are on the way to the airport to pick up Xanders Uncle. Their main worry seems to be the fact that they have agreed to 'put up' some of Xanders relatives as well as some of Anyas Demon friends. A mixture that doesn't seem to bode well! Riley and Buffy arrive next to a Dam and realise that the Demon is at the bottom of the Dam. Riley proceeds to abseil down the side of the Dam with Buffy wrapping herself around him. Once at the bottom they find the Demon, fight it and knock it unconscious. Buffy and Riley share a quiet moment of staring into each others eyes, when a woman, dressed in black combat gear arrives and introduces herself as Sam, Rileys wife! Buffy looks stunned! The Suvolte Demon regains consciusness and attacks them, but Buffy easily kills it. Sam explains that they wanted it alive, as they need to know where it has laid it's eggs! They decide to go back to Buffys house. Once there they are met by Dawn, who is very cold toward Riley. Xander and Willow appear and are introduced to Sam. Riley explains that the eggs are due to be sold on by someone known as 'the Doctor', they have to find him, to find the eggs. They decide to split into two teams, Sam and Buffy to look for the eggs and Riley to look for the 'Doctor'! Buffy and Sam talk a little as they patrol the graveyard. Buffy makes an excuse to Sam about seeing an informant alone, so Sam goes off to find Riley! Buffy unceremoniously barges into Spikes Crypt. She wants any information he has on 'The Doctor'. Spike claims not to have any. Buffy then Demands that Spike tell her that he loves her and wants her, she then starts to kiss him and they begin to have sex on the top of a stone sarcophagus. Later, we see Spike and Buffy sleeping naked beneath a blanket. Spike wakes first and his expression changes to one of delight as he spots Riley standing at the foot of the sarcophagus, watching them. Buffy wakes and she is embarrassed and ashamed at being found with Spike. Spike takes great delight in taunting Riley, until Riley calls Spike 'Doctor'. Buffy half heartedly tries to defend Spike, but after they do indeed find the eggs in the room below his crypt she resorts to punching him. Spike tries to defend himself by telling her that he was only looking after the eggs for a friend. Buffy tells him 'no more games', which Spike thinks is funny, coming from her! Unfortunately, Spike had not kept the eggs at the right temperature and they start to hatch. Horrible little spidery demons attack Buffy and Riley, who manage to escape and Buffy ends up throwing a grenade down into Spikes sub Crypt. This kills all the little spidery demons! With his mission ended it's now time for Riley and Sam to leave Sunnydale. He say's his goodbyes to Buffy outside her house. He also asks her whether she would like him to kill Spike. Buffy replies, no! The rest of the Scoobs appear, along with Sam, and everyone say's their goodbyes. A helicopter hovers above and drops a line to Sam and Riley, who hook themselves onto it and fly off into the night. Later, Buffy goes to see Spike. She finds him in the downstairs part of his crypt, unhappily looking over the damage. She admits that though she wants him, she can't love him and is just using him. She tell him that their relationship is over. Spike looks crushed as Buffy walks out into the sunlight. Episode summary by Spacenewt |
