Illumination from above

Top lighting is: unflattering, creates shadows below the eyes, emphasis imperfections, shows hair lighter and uneven.

In a way, top lighting can make you seem like an evil mystery soap star.

David: Eventhough with the wacky face he poses, he seems a bit unsettling. There are also many shadows created around his eyes, and his mouth. Both his eyes and his mouth seem to almost disappear. Due to the mild sucking in of his cheeks and the many shadows, an image of a skull is almost created.

Duck: Because my duck is a stuffed animal, it is harder to tell its mood. Looking at my duck in this picture, he may seem like a bad boy (or duck) with an angel exterior. The darkness below him gives him a mysterious menace appeal. His bright face creates the "angel" feeling.
