program that works! Hey! I made 10.5 mph today despite the gym's best efforts to counter my progress! Too bad they didn't read May 2001 Muscle Media's "Fire Up!" featured article by David Kennedy under Fire-Up Strategy 2 page 113, Listen to Fast-Paced Music where if Oshawa's gym's management had bothered "to look beyond the confines of convention" would have found "a whole 'nother realm of energetic aids..." "the most potent of these unconventional energizing "supplements," according to recent research is music."
"Listening to faster-paced music during exercise results in accomplishment of more work without proportional changes in heart rate," says Dr. Szabo, Department of Life Sciences at England's Nottingham Trent University. This study was published September 2000 in the Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness.
(Note: July 4, 2001 - In all fairness to NRG, Liz the GM went out today and bought a 5-Disc CD Changer. Now NRG plays "thee most kick-ass, upbeat, high-energy music I've ever heard in any gym! Pure fire!")

Later, as I ran "To the Max Cardio Solution" (June 2001 Muscle Media, page 70) at the Courtice Secondary School outside track (a track I hadn't been on in almost 30 years) - a Carnival had been set up for the Victoria Day Week-end and Oshawa's new 94.9 Energy FM was poundin' out some great energy music. But, it wasn't the same stuff they were feedin' NRG or my car ' cause I checked. I guess "energy" is just reserved for cash events and is the new marketing buzz-word these days... Someday, maybe my good ol' hometown - Courtice, will get a High Energy Gym, one like the kind Bill Phillips would promote! Then I wouldn't have to listen to an Oshawa Station at an Oshawa gym.

Day 84! Sunday May 20/01 - My Body-
for-LIFE Guest Book entry: Do ya feel the feelin'? Absolutely incredible! Absolutely wonderful! The fireworks are goin' off all over the place for our Victoria Day Week-end, but to me - they're celebrating my many personal victories right along with me :-) And hey - "ABS!" I trusted and believed! And today - for the first time in my entire life - I have ABS! It's a bloomin' miracle! Thank-you Bill Phillips! I knew your program would work! Mine aren't the best abs in the world, but hey - they're mine, and they're showin'! God, I love this program! I have my photo shoot Wednesday, so I got 2 bonus days to go - Day's 85 and 86! For all you BFLer's start welcoming those high points with a smile - every one of 'em are worth it! Incredible!

To Patrick Beatty who asked if 10 cups of water daily are needed: 10 cups of water are a minimum requirement, especially if you are going to take Betagen and Phosphagen HP. They contain Creatine Monohydrate which some say actually dehydrates the cells of your muscles (and your muscles are about 80% water). The secondary result of dehydrated cells (IF PLENTY OF WATER IS AVAILABLE FOR THEM TO USE) is for the cells to absorb as much water as they can - and both these EAS products are wonderful in helping you prime your energy ATP stores as well as help your recovery in building lean, hard muscle. Do not trust non-EAS sources for your Creatine Monohydrate. And check out any nutritional supplement's vital info on the Nutritional Supplements link found on Porter Freeman's page on Eric Shrieves'
finallyfit.net website. Water is the greatest equalizer of your entire system. If you're going on an intense program, drink plenty of it - at least 10 cups! Follow Bill's advice to the letter! You'll be absolutely amazed! And yes, water in Iced Tea also counts :-)
THE WEEK FOLLOWING MY BODY-FOR-LIFE CHALLENGE
I don't know if it happens to everyone, but mentally I went into shock after finishing my Photo Shoot on Day 87. Maybe for some this shock hits right after Day 84. I dunno. I guess I was lucky 'cause I had shceduled Bonus Days for Days 84, 85 & 86 leading up to my Photo Shoot. After finishing Day 84, I initially felt great! I had done it! And, I had the beginning of a 6-pack showing on my abs. I've never had that before in my entire life! Unless you've completed Day 84 you have no idea of how high you feel! It's absolutely incredible!

Day 85 - Monday May 21/01 - NRG was closed for the holiday when I went to work out. No longer attached to any one gym - I had a good intense Bonus Day Work-out at the YMCA. Location doesn't matter. What's in your head does!

Day 86 - Tuesday May 22/01 - 301 cals. on a pre-work 5:05 am Bonus Day Treadmill Work-out. Prior to my work-out I had an NRG appraiser, Debbie take my AFTER Stats. This was again accomplished (as were my BEFORE Stats) through a Fitness Assessment Data Sheet and the TANITA BODY COMPOSITION ANALYZER TBF-300 GOAL SETTER. When Debbie reviewed my "After Stats" with me, I couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear while blinkin' away tear-filled eyes. My AFTER Stats were beyond all my expectations. The feeling was an emotional, incredible high! I was ecstatic about my stats! They were so much beyond my expectations! I was incredibly happy!
COMPARING MY BEFORE & MY AFTER STATS
At any rate, in my initial goals:
I wanted to get my Weight from 202.8 pounds down to 190 pounds (more if lean muscle)
From 202.8 pounds down to 190.8 pounds - a loss of 12 pounds. I accomplished my goal.
I wanted to get my BMI to 23 (this was unrealistic and I would've ended up thin had I achieved this one)
My BMI is in a very healthy range at 24.8 and this is better than if it had dropped to 23.
I wanted to get my Fat% from 21.0% to 16%
My Fat% went from 21.0% to 7.9% and this far surpasses my initial goal!
I wanted to get my Fat Mass from 42.6 pounds down to 30 pounds
My Fat Mass went from 42.6 pounds to 15.0 pounds - a LOSS of 27.6 pounds of fat! I far surpassed my initial goal!
I wanted to build lean muscle
I went from 160.2 pounds of Fat-Free Mass to 175.8 pounds - a GAIN of 15.6 pounds of Fat-Free, lean muscle and to me this is incredible! I am so happy! I more than accomplished my initial goal.
In addition, my waist went from 36 1/2 to 33-inches - a LOSS of 3 1/2-inches from my waist.
