MY GOALS, & REASONS FOR DOING THE BODY FOR LIFE PROGRAM:
CAREER - I now imagine guys at GM starting the Body-for-LIFE program because of my enthusiasm for it. There's way too much defeatist attitudes amongst GM workers and they don't see much of a future for themselves. Some openly talk about the fact that they're only good as a pension source for their families. This is not a winning personal attitude. I must personally win for myself, and as an example for them!!! (If they see a goal achieved, perhaps they'll be more apt to apply goals themselves).

FAMILY - Health has always been a concern in our family, with low feelings of self-worth as the root cause of a lot of the health problems. I now imagine myself feeling great about improving myself and seeing those improvements become reality. This will serve to help motivate my family to also accomplish their goals and feel better about themselves.

FINANCES - This area used to be tied in with poor spirituality ideas (money is a bad thing), poor mental attitude (I'm so in debt, there's no way out), and poor recreational/social involvement. I now see that I am in control of my finances. This program will help strengthen my spirituality (it's wonderful to be creative, to love oneself in bringing about a new body, it's wonderful to see the reality of renewed self confidence, enthusiasm and courage). This program will strengthen my mental attitude (all things are possible). And finally, this program will strengthen my recreational/social realms (because it teaches exchanging negative involvement with positive involvement). My family, friends and community will benefit from a better me!

RECREATIONAL - Exercise has now become a part of my recreational activities. Wholesome activities are in. Unwholesome activities are out! Motivational reading and encouraging others is also in! (It's all about inner integrity and control).

SPIRITUAL - Enthusiastic imagination of the New Heavens and the New Earth becoming reality can only become reality with active participants who also hold such vision. We are required to actively seek our high point in all things to this end. This program teaches about reaching beyond self in order to reach one's high point. The result: phenomenal inner growth and reaching beyond limitations are natural by-products of this program, and important fundamentals for us all. It's hip!!! (Heart of the rose)...

MENTAL - Now, I practice replacing negatives with positives and this is good mental health at it's best. Peace of mind comes with knowing you've given your all by the end of the day. When one gives wholeheartedly to another or to a cause, one must also be able to give oneself their best!! I deserve to challenge my body, mind and spirit so that they can constantly be re-created for services to my self, my family, friends and community. Clean out the cob-webs!!! (Empty cup)...

PHYSICAL - 3 years ago I went from a 42" waist to 33" waist in 3 months following the principles found within Body-for-LIFE as far as my eating habits were concerned. They were passed down to me by my room-mate who was studying to be a Personal Trainer and (unbeknown to me at that time, an avid reader of Bill Phillips' articles). I was also doing some aerobics combined with light upper body workouts about 3 times per week. I went from 240 pounds to 190 pounds and I felt great about myself and my accomplishments. However, over time, I reached a certain comfort zone and slowly began to slip from those wonderful eating habits that had transformed me. Recently my neighbor told me about Bill Phillips and Body-for-LIFE. He said it sounded like what I had been doing a few years ago. I bought the book and was amazed at how similar his Eating-for-LIFE program was to the method I had follwed 3 years earlier. I knew it would work. Then, I read about the program's Training-for-LIFE, and The 20-Minute Aerobics Solution. Nobody had detailed out a program like this for me before. I was extremely grateful, and I decided to accept Bill's 12-week challenge. I weighed in at 202.8 and my goal is to weigh 190 (or more if it's lean muscle). My waist had ballooned from 33" to 36 1/2" and I'm determined to get my waist down to 33". My BMI was 26.4 and my goal is to get this down to 23. My fat percentage was 21% and my goal is to get this down to 16%. My fat mass was 42.6 lbs. and my goal is to get my fat mass to 30 lbs. In the 12-week process, I am hoping not only to reduce body fat and to sculpt my body (in a more muscular and defined way) the way I feel it should look, but also to build inner strength and bust through my comfort zone. To reach beyond is my goal. I believe all this is possible within a 12-week time frame using the Body-for-LIFE program. I am committed to these accomplishments and maintaining them through this program. Bill has made sense!!! There is no other way to lose fat and build muscle than to eat right and exercise. Thank-you for the program. The rest is up to me!!! (Create a plan of action. Adapt and follow the plan)... Take action!

SOCIAL - I see the social structure of things as 3 kids blocks piled one upon the other. The middle block is the ground floor of community. The bottom floor is the bargain basement and the home of those who hide from themselves and from community. The top floor is the New Heavens or all the possibilities that could exist upon this planet. I also see within this simple structure of things - 3 Musketeers, each one on a different level, able to go via a circular staircase from floor to floor, but never are there 2 Musketeers that stay on the same floor. I know that in this vision, each of those Musketeers represents me, and I am to be fighting a noble cause within myself, to move from the basement to the ground floor. I am also to bring wonderful news from the top floor to the middle floor. In both efforts I am to be a worthwhile member of our community. I am to better myself and also reach beyond myself to the realm of all that could be and bring a bit of that news to someone every day. This program contains the fundamentals to strengthen my mental and physical character for myself and for others
My Prep Time: Man, did I set goals. I dug real deep. Hey - I was on familiar turf! This Body-for-LIFE program was like my buddy. To make sure I had all areas in my life covered, I initially came up with goals to cover 8 areas of my life, which I called,
