Heart Health Glossary
Answers:
1. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids from marine and vegetable food sources will convert to eicosanoids respectively.
Subgroup Prostaglandins (PGE1, PGE2, PGE3) are major ones which regulate inflammation, pain, blood pressure, heart function, gastrointestine secretions, kidney function and fluid balance, blood clotting and platelet aggression, steroid production and hormone synthesis. PGE1 and PGE3 are the "good" ones which are formed by omega-3 EPA and DHA.  PGE2 is the "bad" one that comes from animal meat and  vegetable omega-6 arachidonic acid (AA). It is highly inflammatory, increase pain sensitivity, and can cause blood platelet clumping, spasm of blood vessels.

2.  Yes, we can restrict formation of "bad" eicosanoids by reducing the AA / EPA ratio.

i.e. just increase the daily intakes of omega-3 EPA, DHA, and DPA (DPA found in seal oil only, more effective than EPA).

3.  Yes, diet rich in marine food source is the solution. Supplements enriched with TRIPLE OMEGA-3 seal oil which is highly compatible to our human bodies.

Fish oil is OK but you have to consider the slow and small absorption rate to digest fish oil, together with toxin impurities.

Flaxseed oil applies only to certain nationality persons because of different body enzyme structures. It has to be converted very slowly and the absorption rate is 5% compared to 25% in seal oil.

Insulin

Dr. Sears Book ref:
High carbohydrates cause high insulin.

High insulin causes high "bad" eicosanoids which will cause the pancreas to produce more insulin, also will cause the liver to produce more cholesterol to add to the "bad heart" situation.

Questions for this lesson:

1. What causes the production of eicosanoid hormones?

2. Can we adjust the "good" and "bad" eicosanoids in our body?

3. Can diet/supplement enhance these anti-aging hormones?
