Our Grandchild
Sharon & Jamien's Son
David Nicolas Leckey
Baby photographs taken by Cole's proud parents, Sharon and Jamien and friends!
David Nicolas "Cole" Leckey was born December 5, 2003 to Sharon and Jamien Leckey of Portland, Oregon. Mary E. and Paul P. Robinette Jr., are Cole's proud North Dakota grandparents. His Great Grandmother Vereen Karath, also lives in Granville, North Dakota across the street from his Grandparents. Cole's other Great Grandparents, Richard and Carolee Lackey, live in Miamisburg, Ohio (you can see their picture on the Camping page) and they are the youngest Great Grandparents I ever knew!
"Long Distance" Baby Grandchild Shopping
Cole's grandmother Mary is doing her best to spoil the baby, even though we haven't been able to visit Cole yet. One of the things Mary has learned is how to shop for a baby that lives too many states away.
She has found that when she orders toys or clothing from a catalog that she can request they send it to Cole's address instead of ours.
Another trick of the Grandmother trade is to shop where the store is willing to let someone pick up the prepaid item in their home state. Of course, the item must be available with a similiar price for this to work. Most of the department stores are very happy to help out this way.
If your store clerks won't or say they can't help you, speak with the manager and point out how easy it would be for them to keep you as a customer, by offering this service! No one wants to loose a good customer. Customer suggestions are usually appreciated, especially when they are tendered by a good customer.
Be polite, courteous and persistent. Most store managers care about their customers and want them to have a good experience. They are well aware that you have many shopping alternatives, including going online to fulfill your wants, needs and desires. Please feel free to share with us your grandchildren's pictures, along with your "long distance" grandparenting experiences, ideas and suggestions. Being grandparents is more fun than being parents!
