While we were living at Naval Air Station (NAS) Memphis, prior to moving to our North Dakota "Winter Wonderland" home, we enjoyed weekend camping in the Mississippi River states of Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri. We used a "pop-up" style of camper and set it up so that we could take our kittens with us. On all our travels, they ride up front with us, and watch the scenery go by.
Serena Anne is a Russian Blue and she thinks she is the most beautiful cat in the world. She is a bit shy, and prefers "people-watching" from inside the camper. The first few trips she did not show any interest in going outside the camper. When we put her on a leash she would go "limp" and "play dead." Most people were not sure which was funnier; me with a "limp, dead cat" on a line, or Mary walking Samantha around the park using a cat halter and leash.
Samantha Lee loves watching people close enough for them to pet her. She always agrees with her admirers when they say that she is the
prettiest cat in the world. She is an American Shorthair, Silver Classic Tabby and she loves bug hunting in the camper with Serena. Between the two of them, we always have the most "bug free" camper in the park!
They are both about nine years old now, but they still occasionally frolic together like young kittens. They are both registered with the Cat Fancy Association (Premier Class) and they both have won ribbons competing in CFA sanctioned shows.CFA. Now that we live in Granville, North Dakota they are "retired" from the CFA show ring. Samantha, however still gets to show off during our local 4H demonstration days. Mary takes Samantha to the 4H'ers and uses Sam to instruct the youngsters about the proper techniques of cat grooming. Samantha poses for the children and loves the attention that they lavish on her. She is still the "Star" of the show during 4H days!
