A tribute..

I met her online, over 2 years ago now. Another friend had told me something about some software that could combine messengers, and was quite handy. I was looking for that program but didn't know the name. Best thing I could think of, was going into the chat rooms and ask around there. Most women there never heard of anything like that. But one..

There was one who reacted to my question, and we started talking. First only in the chat rooms, and we found out we both liked to mess online with home pages and computers. She had a few sites on geocities, and I was trying to find my way on other sites. After a while she convinced me to change over to geocities too, as they had this easy way of building with "page builder". So said so done. I transferred the site I had over, and yes I did like the way geocities let you build a site. Its very easy to understand when you start.

We started to build a site together, in honor of the group of ladies from the chat room we met. (It is still a great group.) Somehow she tickled my curiosity, and we were diving more and more into "gadgets" like javascript for on the pages we made. Till one day, she sends me this program, a graphic program, with the message :

"Try this!"

At first I thought, "excuse me? You want me to tackle that?? No way... that's far too difficult for me." But she kept "nagging" me about it, and gave me links to tutorials for the program. Yup, I gave in and started to like it, fell in love with it. Its PaintShop that I'm talking about here, a great program to make your own graphics, backgrounds, work on pictures, and even make animations. Most of the backgrounds and graphics you see on the pages here, are all made by us.

As you see, nowadays we write our pages in HTML, not using the page-builder from geocities anymore. This is because at a certain point we got very interested in how to build the pages ourselves. This way we can control the speed of loading better. Another reason is, that when you build your page in Html-Kit, you can work on them offline, and upload faster to geocities.

As the title states, this is a tribute to my friend. Her name is Linda, and she is my inspiration. If not for her, I'd never got so far with this sitebuilding and other things on the computer.

Thank you for being in my life sweetheart, I love you.
