We had originally planned to drive down to Milford Sound and possibly go on a ferry tour round the sounds, but when we got to Te Anau we realised we didn't have enough time. So we decided to blow our holiday budget and see if we could get a place on a helicopter tour with Fantastic Fjordlands Southern Lakes Helicopter Rides ([email protected]). |

We were taking up in a tiny helicopter (which needed refueling), just the 2 of us and the pilot. It was truely amazing as the pilot takes you onto on mountains and shows you views that you would never see otherwise. |

The other nice touch is they will loan you a digital camera for the flight, copying all the photos you take onto CD for you at the end of the flight, adding a few of their own too. They land you in a couple of spots and give you the opportunity to hop out and take some photographs or just enjoy the view.
