My former touring bike: A 1971 Schwinn Super Sport with many homemade modifications including a hybrid gearing system with a Sturmey Archer AW 3-speed hub and front and rear deraillers, front and rear pannier racks made from hardware store aluminum stock, and a self contained dual beam lighting system using a Sturmey Archer Dynohub and a nicad battery that gets recharged while riding in the daytime. I rode this bike for almost 30 years and over 100,000 miles. Perhaps I'll eventually have a web page about it.
My former work bike and rural utility bike: A 1985 Schwinn Sierra mountain bike which I won brand new in a magazine sweepstakes contest and immediately made major modifications to, including removing the deraillers and converting to a Sturmey Archer 5-speed hub gear, and another Sturmey Archer Dynohub for lights. Used daily as a Boston bike messenger for a few years. Later I converted the gearing to another wide range hybrid system with a rear derailler and it now resides in a cabin in the Maine woods and gets used very infrequently.
My first bike: A 1961 Schwinn Traveler 3-speed which I won that year in an Easter coloring contest. I made some unusual modifications to this bike too, but no pictures survive.
My second bike: ~1969 Sears, made in Austria by Puch. Typical "10-speed" with 27" wheels, Normandy high flange hubs, lugged steel frame, Simplex deraillers and Weinmann center pull brakes. This bike met its demise in a collision with a pickup truck in March 1971 and was replaced by the Schwinn Super Sport later that year.
Timeless and elegant bicycle gearing.
I've ever owned

As used for bicycle tires
