BOUDHANATH TEMPLE-15 FEB 2001

The stupa of Bhoudhanath ,also called   Khasti is a World Heritage Site and one of the holiest Site of  both Hindus and Buddhists equally. This  ancient colossal stupa is one of the biggest in the world .And the center of Tibetan Buddhism in the world .There are about fifty Tibetan Buddhist monasteries around Bouddhanath. Hundreds of prayer wheels and 108 images of the Buddha adorn the stupa, surrounding this great Buddhist monument which is set
in the octagonal Mandala design.

We could see many Lamas walking around the  stupa with Pray wheel or 'Mani' in their hand. There are lot of beliefs associated with  each and every custom in bhudhism.For.eg.rotating the Pray wheel is said to send away the evils from us and bring goodness. Also rotating the wheels and chanting hymns and Mantras will send our prayers  directly to god!
