OFFICIAL VISITS IN INDO- NEPAL YEP  FEB 2001

"The woods are lovely ,dark and deep ,But I've promises to keep! "

From the day two, we were visiting many places in and around Katmandu. And In between we used to have some important official meetings also. here are some of them.

1. CALL ON CHIEF ADVISER ,NCC NEPAL - 15 FEB 2001

    Had tea with Col.Girvan Bikram Shah , the chief advisor of Rashtriya Seva Dal (Rased or NCC)  at Officers Club near Army HQ , Katmandu.

2.CALL ON CHIEF OF STAFF , NEPALI ARMY - 16 FEB 2001

    Had a brief meeting with the Chief Of Staff Lt.Gen .Durganath Aryal , the COS of Nepali Army .

3.DINNER WITH CHEIF ADVISOR AND HIS FAMILY - 16 FEB

    Had a beautiful and memorable  dinner with Chief Advisor Col.G.B.Shah , his wife , Maj .Aash B.Tamang , his wife , Sub Laxman Bogati  along with  Cap.H.B.Shah

4.LUNCH WITH COS AND CHIEF ADVISOR AT CADET CAMP ,TRIBUVANTAR - 19 FEB

    The Rashtriya Seva Dal camp at Tribhuvantar , where the NCC cadets of Nepal attend their training. We witnessed the POP (passing out parade) of the cadets and the demonstration of Teik wando and Kukri drill. The COS presented each  of us one kukri knife as a memento.

5.CULTURAL EVENTS OF THE CADETS AND OUR PRESENTAITON AT THE CAMP - 19 FEB

    Our presentation on India was welcomed  very much .Eventhough we had to make last minute changes to the script due to language problem we could adjust well and we performed well. Later we witnessed their cultural show. All colorful dances .We joined their dances also. It was great fun!

6.DINNER WITH GUESTS AND CADETS AT THE CAMP -19 FEB

After the cultural programme, we had our dinner with the dignitaries  who witnessed the show.

7.WITNESSED THE ARMY DAY PARADE CEREMONY (coincides with the Maha Shiv Rathri festival of Pashupathi nath temple) -21 FEB

The annual Army day ceremony was the main function for which we were invited as guests from India. It coincides with the Maha Shiv Rathri which is celebrated with great pomp and show in the country of temples. The ceremony lasted for 2 hrs. Their Majesties the King and Queen graced the occasion. Almost all the diplomats and ministers and others attended. Only invited guests are allowed inside with a pass. Common people are not allowed. The Army demonstrated all its capabilities Awards and medals were given by the king to eminent and brave soldiers.

8.DINNER WITH THE CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF, NEPAL -22 FEB 

The annual army day dinner hosted by the Chief of Army Staff was a grandeur event. It was a privilege for us to have dinner with all the biggest dignitaries and diplomats of Nepal. They included dignitaries from Britain, Pakistan, India and many other countries. They all treated us  in a very friendly way. And the event remains ever in my memories.

9.VISIT ON THE INDIAN EMBASSY AT KATMANDU - 22 FEB

The Indian embassy at Katmandu is the biggest Indian embassy anywhere in the world. It occupies a large area and meets all the needs of the Indians in Nepal and also the Nepalese in India. We went around the place and met many officers there.

10.OFFICIAL SEND-OFF BY THE CHIEF ADVISOR -23 FEB

    The chief advisor himself came to the Airport and presented each of us a bouquet of Flowers to give us a grand send -off. Thus the whole trip came to end in  a grand manner and we boarded the IA flight IC 819 back to New Delhi with a lot of great memories.
