Committee Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM.  In attendance were: Frank B., Dave B., Leslie C., Pat E., Russ H., Lois G., Casey M., Jeff M., Mike O., Kevin P., and Jack R..

Secretary's report:    Minutes from October were approved.  Motion was made by Kevin P. and seconded by Pat E..  The minutes were distributed at the October Pack Meeting and posted on the website.

Treasurer's report:    Treasurer’s report was available for September and October 2002.  Motion was made to approve the Treasurer’s report by Jeff M., seconded by Leslie C..

Old Business

Pack Purchases:   The committee will wait and ask the new treasurer to see if he has a copy of Quicken or should we purchase one.  Mrs. H. will see that Chris Y., the new treasurer gets all the supplies and information.

Winter Camp:   Winter Camp is November 15 – 17th.  The price for Fall Camp will be $6.00 for each Tiger and Partner and $12 for each other scout or adult.

Activities for Winter Camp:   Talking about respect and safety.  On Saturday we will meet with Troop 190 and the Order of the Arrow at the fire ring.  It is a Pow wow weekend for OA.  We will work with Mr. Corey N. for this activity.  Boy Scouts from 190 will put on skits.

Wood Projects:   The catapult will be made as the project.  It appears on page 278 of the Webelos handbook.  It was brought up to have a contest with prizes.  The committee felt that a contest would be fine, but no prizes should be awarded.  All the supplies have been secured.  Saturday activities end at 5:00 and from 5:15 – 5:45 PM the project competition will be held.

Camp Registration:   Pat E. will create the registration form for camp.  He will set up a table specifically for this purpose at the Pack Meeting.  All registration must be in by then.

Food:   Jack R. will be helping us again prepare the food for Camp.  Thursday, November 14th we will meet at 6:30 PM at St. Paul’s to prepare some of the food for camp.  Dave B. and Pat E. will buy the food to cook.  We will use the hotdogs and sausages from the picnic.  The rolls that were frozen will be defrosted on Friday and brought along by Mike.  Lunch on Saturday will be sausage and hotdogs.  Dinner will be spaghetti with meat and meatballs.  Put food in oven approx. 4:00 PM at 350 degrees.  Snacks will be at 9:00 PM on Saturday night.

Kickball:   The official rules for kickball are needed.  Pat will get them online.

Orienteering:   All scouts will be doing an Orienteering course.  It will be an easier course for the younger scouts.  The Compasses will be used and Scouts from Troop 190 and Mr. Ted S., scout leader from Troop 190.  All scouts will be awarded the Orienteering Belt loop.

Transportation to Camp:   Scouts can meet at the Old Giant parking lot at 7:00 AM to follow others who know the way to Camp.  Dave B. will make extra copies of the directions.

New Business

Pack T-Shirts:   Gary K. will hand out the T-shirts at the Pack Meeting.  The winners will be announced.

Rehabitat:   Bring items to the next Pack Meeting.  The Committee felt the activity went well.  Rick H's Den, the Rams, will be doing a service project that includes collecting items for Rehabitat.

Gift for Pete S.:   The committee agreed that Leslie should be reimbursed for the gift that the Pack recently gave to Mr. S. for all his help.

Pinewood Derby:   Frank will talk about the Pinewood Derby and hand out cars to all the Den Leaders.

Patches:   The committee agreed that Leslie should order the patches for Camp and the Pinewood Derby.

Reminders

A representative from each Den should plan to attend the monthly Pack Committee Meetings.  The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2002 at 7:00 pm @ St. Paul’s.

Open Positions:
Awards Shadow, Activity Shadow for 2002- 2003 – These positions are currently handled by Russ W..  His son will be moving on to Boy Scouts in March.
Cub Master for 2003-2004 - Dr. M. will continue to fill this position until March, but will also be leaving in the spring as his son bridges to Boy Scouts.  The best way to learn this position would be to have this person as an Assistant Cub Master for the 2002- 2003 year.
Secretary – This position will be needed in the spring of 2003.


A big Thank You to our newest volunteers:  Mr. David B. will be and Assistant Cub Master for next year and Mr. Chris Y. will be our new Treasurer beginning next month.  Thank you very much for stepping forward to help the Pack!!!!

Dates To Remember

The next Committee Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2002 at 7:00 PM at St. Paul's.

The Pack Meeting is scheduled for December 13, 2002 at 7:00 PM @ St. Paul’s.  Don't forget it is uniform inspection.
