The meeting was called to order at 7:08 PM. In attendance were: Frank B., Leslie C., Pat E., Lois G., Rick H., Russ H., Sharon H., Kevin K., Casey M., Jeff M., Mark M., Mike O., Jack R., and Russ W. Secretary's report: Minutes from October were approved as corrected. The corrections are that Sharon H. and Mark M. were also in attendance at the October Committee Meeting. The minutes were posted on the web site and handed out at the October Pack Meeting. Treasurer's report: Balance as of October 31, 2001 was $3,079.31.
Old Business An email will be sent out to all Den Leaders to announce the pickup time, place, etc. A suggestion was made that we go back to the goal setting that we did in the past. According to Kevin K. The Pack did not sell as much popcorn as anticipated. The K's will be moving on to Boy Scouts next year and we need to start looking for someone to take Brenda’s position as Popcorn Chairperson. Popcorn $ is due in December. The Methodist Children’s Home gifts are due! An email reminder to all families will be sent out prior to the November Pack Meeting. Diane L. is our new Service Chairperson. Gifts or Money are accepted as donations. Food preparation will take place on Thursday, November 15th at St. Paul’s at 6:30 PM. Mr. Pat E. has agreed to head the food committee for Winter Camp. The extra food and supplies from the picnic should be brought to this food prep session. Mr. R. will do the shopping. We have 49 scouts plus parents coming up to camp. There are a couple of questions concerning some scouts and if they will be attending. Calls will be made to check on these scouts. There are 2 women going up on Friday night and 7 who will be staying on Saturday night. The camp activities were then discussed. Jeff M. discussed the activity trails and the number of boys in each group. He also discussed use of the camp equipment. We are having a problem securing the BB guns, but are working with Keystone Area Council to clear up that problem. Jeff has the targets, Mike has the BBs, and we will need clothespins. Set up will take quite a bit of time. The first station on Saturday morning starts at 9:00 AM. Other ideas were suggested by Mike O. in place of BB guns if it should come to that. Fossil study and Flag history were suggested. Bow and Arrow are out the question as that equipment is stored for the winter and is not available. The volleyball nets and balls will be gotten thru Tanya B. Jeff will make sure they make it up to camp for early setup. Mark M. discussed the compass course. He is checking with someone on details, but is preparing his station. He may need more compasses so if you bring one to camp make sure it is labeled with your name! Leslie C. is ordering the Fall Camp patches. She will also order the Pinewood Derby patches at the same time to save on postage. Russ will order 55 volleyball belt loops for camp. The pinewood derby stand was displayed. They should work very well. Gary K. will be asked to supply a count of the wood pieces and along with Mike O. make sure there are enough for all the scouts attending. Jeff M. will bring an extra box of gloves along for staining of the stands. Tiger Cubs were invited to participate all day
Saturday. They may not
stay overnight, but are encouraged to stay for the campfire Saturday
night. Each Den
will be responsible for coming up with a skit for the campfire.
All activities are done rain or shine so be prepared for cold
or rain. Mike O. suggested the pack thank Mr. Pete S. for all
his help with the pinewood derby stands.
The pack will be looking into purchasing a gift for Mr. S. A caravan of cars will leave both Friday nights for Webelos II and also on Saturday morning for all other Scouts. We will continue to use the Old Giant parking lot on Gettysburg Road as a meeting spot.
New Business We need to begin working on guests of honor. Jeff suggested a Hero for the boys. Someone they might relate to the tragedy of September 11th. Both Mark M. and Frank B. know local firemen who spent sometime in NY cleaning up. They will contact them to see if they would be available to come. Other local representatives were mentioned. Our Kiwanis representative and Council should be represented.
A Pack Roster will be emailed to everyone. This will include a list of all committee members. As of the committee meeting we have 63 scouts!! Den leaders will be responsible for forwarding this list to anyone in their den who does not have email. According to Leslie it is only a very few member without email. T-Shirt and Sweatshirts should be available at the November Pack Meeting. Mr. K. was not present to ask, but as we know that is the expected date of delivery so that we have them for camp. Pinewood Derby cars will be passed out at the Pack Meeting. A demonstration will be given to explain the laws of physics and how to make your car go faster! Russ is checking into a hockey game for the pack to attend in the spring. He will have more details at the next committee meeting. Casey Marks made the suggestion that Pack 190
along with Troop 190 buy a brick to support the Upper
Allen Playground project.
The discussion was tabled until we can speak with Jeff K.
from Troop 190.
