Old Business

May Activities: Reviewed May activities and discussed improvements for 2004.

1.      The Great Cub Scout Adventure – We should determine a designated meeting place or go as a pack.

2.      Memorial Day Parade – Set up call chain or communication plan next year to address inclement weather.

3.      Pack Meeting – Acoustics were a problem at times. All speakers need to project his or her voice.

4.   Geology Night – 7 scouts attended. This was a perfect group size. Could have been a little more structured in the presentation. Kevin to call Jean to schedule another Geology Night.

Action Items from May Committee Meeting: Reviewed open items. Randy to bring hard copies of Pack Calendar to September Pack Meeting.

Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce Arts & Crafts Day – 8/2/03: Ritter’s will allow us to use their front sidewalk. The plan is to sell hot dogs, sausages and soda from 11 AM – 2 PM. A separate table will be set up with Pack information (i.e. flags and pinewood derby cars). Volunteers will serve 1-hour shifts, beginning at 10 AM (for set-up) and ending at 3 PM (tear-down). Leslie will look for a patch for those that help out. Dave will organize volunteers.

Pinewood Derby Track: Kevin to send an email asking if anyone has a room to store the Pinewood Derby Track.

Boys Life Magazine: Leslie made a motion to raise the price of registration to include subscription to Boys Life starting in September.  Motion passed. We need 100% participation to be eligible for the Pack Quality Award. Magazine to be used in den activities.

Scout Sunday: Discussed dates for Scout Sunday. Kevin to contact Mike O to determine date and check with St. Paul’s to see if they want us to recognize the event at their church.

New Business

Changes to Tiger Cub Uniform:  This is the transition year for Orange Class A Tiger uniforms. It’s the last year for orange. Our pack will go with blue uniforms for Tigers, due to the limited supply of orange uniforms in local stores. Kevin will buy a supply of the block 190 patches to be sold to scouts. Leslie to contact new family about uniforms and pack registration.

New Oval Webelos Badge: This new badge design is effective now. Leslie to draft information on uniform requirements and send to Kevin to distribute via email.

New Questions on Adult Registration Forms: Dave to review questions on Adult Registration Form. Leslie to send Dave copy of electronic version she has. Dave will draft new version and send to committee for review.

Photo Permission with Boys Registration Forms: We will model our photo permission slip after that which is used by the schools. This will be added to the registration form. Leslie will obtain a copy of the form the schools use and Dave will pull the packet together. The registration packet will be finalized in July/August and sent to all families via email. They should be completed and returned at the September Pack Meeting.

Guidelines for Handbooks:  Reviewed guidelines for new handbooks. Will allow either version this year. Scouts will be required to have the new handbooks in 2004. Leslie to clean up her email on this and send to Kevin for distribution.

Senators’ Tickets: Need to reconcile amounts received for Senators’ tickets and reimburse Jean for difference she covered.

Thank you to Jack Rhoads: Dave to coordinate a “Thank you” for Jack Rhoads for his help with Fall Camps.

Memorial Day Placards for Dens: Will distribute placards at September Pack Meeting.

Popcorn Sale/Fund Raiser Buy-Out Option: Will offer a separate fundraiser buy-out for those that don’t want to participate in the popcorn sale. The popcorn sale is another requirement of the Quality Unit award. Those scouts who opt to participate in the popcorn sale will be encouraged to wear their uniform when making sales.

Naylor Observatory: Discussed possible outing to Naylor Observatory. Jean will decide the following by the May Pack meeting:

Budget Review: Rick developed a proposed budget for 2003/2004. Rick to complete 2002/2003 entries. Rick will try to itemize our budget as much as possible, but asked for input from the committee in this area.

All topics not covered will be carried forward to the next Committee Meeting.

Next Committee Meeting:  The next committee meeting will be held at St. Paul’s on Thursday, July 10th at 7:30 PM.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:35 PM.
