The
meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM.
In attendance were: Beth
B., Leslie C., Pat E., Rick H., Kevin K., Mike O., Casey M.,
Jeff M. and Terry S. Secretary's report: Minutes were previously handed out at the December Pack Meeting and posted on the website. Discussion concerning the time of the Hershey Bear's Game was introduced. Game time is 6:00 PM on Sunday, March 18th. Payment is due to the Den Leader or Russ W. no later than the day of the Pinewood Derby. Checks should be payable to Pack 190. Concern over what type of uniform should be worn was also discussed. A motion was made by Leslie C. and seconded by Casey M. that Dress Uniform will continue to be required at all Den and Pack Meetings. Casual Uniform will include all Pack T-shirts and sweatshirts and can be worn to pack events such as sporting events, hikes, etc… The type of uniform will decided by the Leader based on the event and should be clearly written on the flyer concerning that event. Treasurer's report: No report. Unable to attend.
Old Business The
annual Pinewood
Derby is scheduled for Saturday, January 13th. The
new timing device was purchased the cost was $338.00 for the timing
device package. Pat E. is working with the software.
Jeff M. asked about its ability for random selection.
Pat stated that he and Frank would be testing out the new
system this weekend. Leslie received the 60 patches that we will be
handing out at the derby; the approx. cost was $48.00.
These patches will be given out in leau of ribbons.
The patches will be handed out at the time of elimination. Pat
asked if we could take pictures of all the entries with a digital
camera to post on the website. Terry S. will bring his digital
camera to weigh-in on Friday night and again on Saturday.
Leslie C. will put out an email to remind everyone that Dress
Uniform should be worn, and not to forget bake sale items. Weigh-in
will begin at 7:00pm on Friday, January 12th and will end
at 8:30pm. The registration for Tigers will begin at 8:00am
on Saturday and the first race will begin at 8:30am. Remember the
race is being held at the First Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg. The
Blue and Gold Banquet will be held at
St. Paul's on February 11, 2001.
Seating will begin at 5:00pm.
It will be a family style buffet with Ham, Potatoes, Chicken
fingers and green beans. Each
family will be asked to bring a dessert.
The approx. cost is $3.00 per person.
Beth B. will have a sign-up sheet at the Pinewood Derby to
help with set-up and clean up.
There will be no regular February Pack Meeting. Mike O. is working on the budget planning and will have more information at the next committee meeting in February. New Business The
Bridging Ceremony will be held during
our March Pack meeting on Friday, March 9th.
Leslie C. discussed the order in which the awards are
presented. She asked if
the Leader awards could be given before the bridging as to keep
everyone's attention. Terry
S. will be discussing all details with Mark M. and will have the
information available at the February committee meeting.
Terry will also discuss if we will be inviting any
dignitaries to our bridging event.
Representatives from Boy Scout Troop 190 as well as Troop 283
will be present. Leslie
C. had information of several service project
opportunities. Her Den went to the United Methodist Children's Home to play
games. She discussed
other activities that we can do as a Pack or as individual Dens. The contact for the home is Cathy E..
The committee also discussed the need to create a new
position for service. Mr.
Jack R. has been doing this job for some time and will be leaving
the Pack in June. Pinewood
Derby Weigh-in is scheduled for January 12, 2001 at 7:00 PM @ First
United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg.. Pinewood
Derby Race is scheduled for January 13, 2001 beginning at
8:00 AM @ First Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg. Scout
Sunday at your place of worship is Sunday, February 4, 2001. Scouting
Pride Day is February 9, 2001.
Wear your uniform to school. Scout
Sunday at St. Paul's is Sunday, February 11, 2001. Blue
Gold Banquet is scheduled for Sunday, February 11, 2001
at 5:00 PM @ St. Paul's. Bridging
Ceremony and March Pack Meeting
is scheduled for Friday, March 9, 2001 at 7:30 PM. Hershey Bears Game is scheduled for Sunday, March 18, 2001 at 6:00 PM. A Cubmaster will be needed for the 2001-2002 year. Mark M. will be stepping down from this position to help in another capacity. He would like to begin to have the person filling his position start to learn the ropes for an easy transition. Contact Mark M. to learn more about this position. A Committee Chairman will also be needed for the 2001-2002 scouting year, as Terry S. will be moving on to help with Boy Scout Troop 190. A Treasurer will also be needed for the 2001-2002 scouting year, as Carol R. son will be moving up to Boy Scout Troop 190. A Awards Chairperson will also
be needed for the 2001-2002 scouting year, as Scott B. son will be
moving up to Boy Scout Troop 190. This position has been filled!
Mr. Russ W.
has volunteered to be our Awards Chairperson next year.
Thank you! Please consider any of these positions. We depend on the parents of our cubs to keep this wonderful pack going. These positions would begin in June 2001, but it is not too early to think about serving the pack in any of these capacities.
Reminders The next Pack Meeting (Blue & Gold Banquet) will be on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at 7:00 PM at St. Paul's. The next Committee Meeting will be on Thursday, Feb.1, 2001, at 7:00 PM at St. Paul's. Any den responsible for the flag ceremony should report to St. Paul's one-half hour before the pack meeting. In addition to the ceremony they will also be responsible for setting up the chairs. At the end of the pack meeting the den will also be responsible for putting away the chairs and returning the church hall to it's daily setup. A drawing of the hall setup will be available.
