The
meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM.
In attendance were: Beth
B., Kevin K., Gary K., Michael O., Casey M., Jeff M., Mark M., Carol
R., Jack R., Terry S. and Russ W.. Also in attendance was Mr. Snyder
from the Kiwanis Club. Secretary's report:
Minutes
were previously handed out at the January Pack Meeting and posted on
the website. Treasurer's report:
Balance as
of January 31, 2001 was $2,531.01.
Old Business The
Pinewood Derby was held on Saturday,
January 13th. The new timing device was a big success.
Patches and Ribbons were handed out on the day of the race, as were
many wonderful prizes. Thanks to Frank B. and the entire Pinewood
Derby Committee for a job well done. Pat
E. and Terry S. took pictures of all the entries with a digital
camera prior to the race and posted them on the website.
The bake sale was also a big success. Thanks to all the hard
working parents behind the scenes.
The overall winners were listed and handed out at the January
Pack Meeting. Many thanks to the First Methodist Church in
Mechanicsburg for allowing us to use the building for our race.
A $50.00 Donation was approved and will be sent to the
church, $25.00 was also approved to pay the entrance fee for the
District Derby Race, and Frank B. was reimbursed for printing and
copying costs related to the Pinewood Derby. Troop
283 would like to borrow our track for their Pinewood Derby.
It was approved by committee vote.
The Blue & Gold Banquet will
be held at St. Paul's on February 11, 2001.
Seating will begin at 5:00pm.
It will be a family style buffet with Ham, Potatoes, Chicken
fingers and green beans. Each
family will be asked to bring a dessert.
The cost is $3.00 per person.
Beth B. reported that 155 people have signed up to attend.
Jeff M. will pick up the placemats.
They contain the spring and summer camping schedule for the
District. The
Blue and Gold Banquet will be held at
St. Paul's on February 11, 2001.

Beth B. will have a sign-up sheet at the Pinewood Derby to
help with set-up and clean up.
There will be no regular February Pack Meeting. The
March meeting will also include bridging
of our second year Webelos. Troop 190 will bring the bridge.
We have one boy bridging to Troop 283 a representative from
that troop will be present to accept this scout. Mike
O. presented the Troop Income/Expense Cost
Analysis. This report will help the
Pack have a clearer picture of what our budget should target and
help us to plan for the future of the Pack. A survey was also
presented and will be handed out at the Blue and Gold.
New Business The annual Scouting for Food drive will be held on March 17th and the 24th. Hang tags will be placed on the 17th. Information will be given out about this event at the March Pack Meeting. The
May Pack Meeting will be held outside at the home of Jeff and Casey
M.. Mr. Terry S. will look into the Order of the Arrow ceremony
to see if they would be available to perform. Scout
Sunday at your place of worship is Sunday, February 4, 2001. Scouting
Pride Day is February 9, 2001.
Wear your uniform to school. Scout
Sunday at St. Paul's is Sunday, February 11, 2001. Blue
Gold Banquet is scheduled for Sunday, February 11, 2001
at 5:00 PM @ St. Paul's. Bridging
Ceremony and March Pack Meeting
is scheduled for Friday, March 9, 2001 at 7:30 PM. Hershey Bears Game is scheduled for Sunday, March 18, 2001 at 6:00 PM. A Cubmaster will be needed for the 2001-2002 year. Mark M. will be stepping down from this position to help in another capacity. He would like to begin to have the person filling his position start to learn the ropes for an easy transition. Contact Mark M. to learn more about this position. A Committee Chairman will also be needed for the 2001-2002 scouting year, as Terry S. will be moving on to help with Boy Scout Troop 190. A Service Chairperson is
needed for next year. This would involve our Christmas program with
the Methodist Home and the Scouting for Food Program. A Picnic Chairperson is
needed to help plan and orchestrate our September 22, 2001, kick-off
picnic. Please see Mr. M. for more information. Please consider any of these positions. We depend on the parents of our cubs to keep this wonderful pack going. These positions would begin in June 2001, but it is not too early to think about serving the pack in any of these capacities.
Reminders The next Pack Meeting will be on Friday, Mar. 9, 2001, at 7:30 PM at St. Paul's. The next Committee Meeting will be on Thursday, March 1, 2001, at 7:30 PM at St. Paul's. Any den responsible for the flag ceremony should report to St. Paul's one-half hour before the pack meeting. In addition to the ceremony they will also be responsible for setting up the chairs. At the end of the pack meeting the den will also be responsible for putting away the chairs and returning the church hall to it's daily setup. A drawing of the hall setup will be available.
