December 2002
Committee Meeting

Eagle

The meeting was called to order at 7:08 PM at Sweet Remembrances in Mechanicsburg.  In attendance were:  Dave B., Leslie C., Pat E., Rick H., Gary K., Casey M., Jason M., Jeff M., Mike O., Kathy R., and Mick S..

Secretary's report:    Minutes from November were approved.  The minutes will be distributed at the December Pack Meeting and posted on the website.

Treasurer's report:    No Treasurer’s report was available.

Old Business

Winter Camp:   Several items were found at camp.  A hat, pocketknife and utility knife.  Jeff will mention these items at the pack meeting.  A list of all boys who attended winter camp was emailed to Committee and Den Leaders.

A letter was received from the Keystone Area Council concerning some vandalism that occurred at camp on Sunday.  Our pack had already left the area by the time in question, and our Pack response to that letter will be written and sent by Jeff M..  He will also speak with Mr. Jeff K., Scoutmaster of Troop 190.

Popcorn Sale:   Lois G. has received all the prizes for the popcorn sale.  An email has been sent to all Den Leaders to see if they maintained a copy of the sales forms.  A list of what each boy ordered for his prize will have to be collected from this information.  A suggestion was made to call Council for help in this matter.

Pinewood Derby:   Frank was unavailable to update us on the Pinewood Derby.  Leslie C. reminded the Committee that the Wildcat Foundation Gala is on Friday night, the same night as weigh-in.  Jeff M. stated that he would be there setting up very early and boys who need to weigh-in early will be able to do so.  Mr. H. reported that he is the Church contact and will look into securing a screen for viewing scores.  Mr. E. reported that there is left over food from camp that can be used for the race food stand.  Hotdogs, Granola Bars and Hot Chocolate mix.  He will contact Mrs. Wendy M. to report this information.

Blue and Gold Banquet:   Mrs. B. was not available for the committee meeting, but apparently everything is moving along fine.  It is scheduled for Sunday, February 23rd at 5:00 PM.  The committee is considering a number of options for the main speaker.  Jeff will contact Mrs. M. to discuss the possibility of Mark speaking to us.  Leslie reminded Jeff to include Den Chiefs in the program.  The program and other information relating to Blue and Gold should be maintained on a disk for future use.

New Business

Awards Chairperson:   Mr. Rich M. has stepped forward and volunteered to be awards chairperson for the 2003-2004 year.  Thank you.

Website:   Our web master was considering the use of pictures on our website.  Different ideas were expressed from the committee.  It is recommended that he check out the rules and regulations as stated by Council concerning scout websites.

Dollars for Doers:   The Dollars for Doers Program sponsored by Tyco has awarded our Pack $250.00 on behalf of the volunteer hours that Mr. Pat E. has given to our Pack over the year.  The program is for employees who volunteer 100 hours or more in a year to an organization.  Thanks, Pat!!!

Meeting Ideas:   Mike O. brought up the idea for the PA Game Commission to come to speak.  Jeff M. suggested the Police Canine Unit.  May's outside meeting will be at the home of Dave P.

Background Checks:   Beginning with the 2002-2003 Scouting year.  Background checks will be required for all adult volunteers.  Keystone Council will be handling these background checks.

Bookmark:   Mike O. found a bookmark at the Public Library marketing Girl Scouts and presented the idea to the committee for our Pack.  The Committee felt that it was best done as a Council wide marketing tool.  Mike will look into it.

Rehabitat:   Bring items to the next Pack Meeting.  The Committee felt the activity went well.  Rick H's Den, the Rams, have been doing a service project that includes collecting items for Rehabitat.  Rehabitat will be coming to their next meeting to pick up the supplies.

Patches:   Leslie received the patches for Camp and the Pinewood Derby.  Jeff will see that Russ gets them for Friday.

Order of the 20:   Jeff discussed the Order of the 20.  It is a Pack award that was created by Mark M. when he was Cub Master.  It is a Certificate.  Each boy is given their Boy Scout handbook as a small token from the Pack for all their hard work.
