The meeting was called to order at 7:07 PM on Thursday, December 7, 2000. In attendance were: Mark M., Terry S., Russ W., Carol R., Kevin K., Frank B., Mike O., Rick H., Leslie C. and Scott B. Secretary's report: Minutes were previously handed out at the November pack meeting. Treasurer's report: The ending balance as of Nov.30, 2000, was $3,151.25. A motion was made and seconded to accept the treasurer's report. The treasurer's report was approved as read.
Old Business Popcorn sales were approximately $6,400.00. The pack profit from this fund raiser was approximately $2,000.00 less expenses and awards. Last year we raised $1,945.00 with our sub sales and sandwich sales combined. Good work! A big thank you to Brenda K. for organizing our pack popcorn sales. Prizes will be awarded at the December pack meeting. Fall Camp was a big success. Thanks to all who attended and helped to make another fun scouting event. Mark M. mentioned that the deposit on the unused cabin would be refunded back to the pack. The Holiday Service Project at the United Methodist Home in Shiremanstown was discussed. There were 150 assorted donated items this year. This worthwhile service project is being conducted in conjunction with the Upper Allen Kiwanis. Thanks to Jack R. for organizing this event. Re-Chartering was coordinated by Brenda K. We have met all the requirements for the National Quality Unit Award. Congratulations! The Council Quality Award was also discussed. The pack will need to participate in some additional activities in order to receive this council award. These events include the spring Family Fun Walk and the spring popcorn sale. Earning the Council Quality Award would allow the pack to receive free cloth patches. The committee will look into the details and requirements of the Council Quality Award.
New Business Pinewood Derby kits will be handed out at the November Pack meeting. Frank B. discussed the options for new timing devices for our January race. The committee approved the purchase of a new electronic finish line timer. It was discussed that the Spring Popcorn sale could fund this purchase. The committee approved purchase of Pinewood Derby patches. The Blue and Gold Banquet will be held at St. Paul's on February 11, 2001. Seating will begin at 5:00 pm. It will be a family style buffet with ham, potatoes, chicken fingers and green beans. Each family will be asked to bring a dessert. The approximate cost is $3.00 per person. The committee discussed items the pack needs to consider in the budget planning. These items include compasses, subsidizing camps, pack t-shirts, fund summertime activities and handbooks for bridging Webelo II scouts. Several other possible summertime activities include the Space Derby, Rain Gutter Regatta and Spring Camp. Mike O. will survey the pack to get ideas for future activities. These ideas will be added to the pack website. On March 18, 2001, the pack will be going to see a Hershey Bears hockey game. The price will be $6.50 a ticket. Additional information will follow on this upcoming pack event. A Cubmaster will be needed for the 2001-2002 year. Mark M. will be stepping down from this position to help in another capacity. He would like to begin to have the person filling his position start to learn the ropes for an easy transition. Contact Mark M. to learn more about this position. A Committee Chairman will also be needed for the 2001-2002 scouting year, as Terry S. will be moving on to help with Boy Scout Troop 190. A Treasurer will also be needed for the 2001-2002 scouting year, as Carol R. son will be moving up to Boy Scout Troop 190. A Awards Chairperson will also be needed for the 2001-2002 scouting year, as Scott B. son will be moving up to Boy Scout Troop 190. Please consider any of these positions. We depend on the parents of our cubs to keep this wonderful pack going. These positions would begin in June 2001, but it is not too early to think about serving the pack in any of these capacities.
Reminders The next Pack Meeting will be on Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at 7:00 PM at St. Paul's. The next Committee Meeting will be on Thursday, Jan.4, 2001, at 7:00 PM at St. Paul's. At the end of the pack meeting the den will also be responsible for putting away the chairs and returning the church hall to it's daily setup. A drawing of the hall setup will be available. Thank you.
