The meeting was called to order at 7:45 PM at St. Paul's. In attendance were: Frank B., Leslie C., Pat E., Rick H., Casey M., Jeff M., Mike O., Kathy R., and Mick S.. Secretary's report: Minutes from July were approved. The minutes were posted on the web site. Treasurer's report: Balance as of July 30, 2002 was $2,257.74. No transactions were recorded during the month. Old Business Wildlife Weekend Program: 2002 Wildlife weekend packages were discussed. Cathy M. was unavailable for a report. The committee was unaware if the minimum number of campers was met. The dates are August 24- 26th. Contact Cathy for details. Fall Picnic: The Fall picnic is scheduled for 09/21/02 at Fisher Park in Upper Allen from 3 PM to 7 PM. Heather D. is arranging the Picnic again this year. We should reserve both the big and small pavillions for the picnic. Winter Camp: Jeff M. registered the troop for winter camp. He secured enough space so that Boy Scout Troop 190 will again be able to join us that weekend. There is currently a problem with one of the cabins we registered for. Council is trying to resolve this problem of double booking. Troop 190 owes the Pack $70.00. We will wait until September to remind Brian D. about the cabin problem. Winter Camp is November 15 – 17th. Frank B. will be on an Order of the Arrow Ordeal and will address the November cabin problem. The Keystone Council camping year runs September to September. Adventure District Camping: The district is sponsoring a Family Camping Weekend September 14- 15th, 2002. The fee is $12.50 per family up to 4 members and $5.00 for each additional family member. Children under age 5 are free. This camping will take place at Hidden Valley. Arrival will be on Saturday morning between 7:00 am and 10:00 am. Program areas will be open at 10:00 am and Campfire will be at 8:00 pm. Each family provides their own tent, camping gear, food and personal gear. Program areas will be archery, BB gun, crafts and games. For more information contact Council. New Business Quality Unit Award: Mike explained that he has been working with Mr. Larry T., District Commissioner and we have qualified for the Quality Plus Award. Way to go! Open Positions: Mike stated that he sent out an email addressing all open positions. T-shirts shadow will be M. D. and Scouting for Food will be Sharon G.. Thank you to all our volunteers! Winter Camp Program: The following was discussed for Winter Camp. The committee agreed that the Saturday program should be run similarly as in the past. The morning activity will be divided in half. In the afternoon there will be stations that will include a project station (craft or wood working), movement activity, knot tying, fire safety, forestry, possible obstacle course and flag folding. A scavenger hunt, fishing, kickball, Astronomy and other possible games were discussed. We have asked Ted S. to help with cooking and fire safety and Corey N. to help with nature and /or some evening entertainment. The youth protection video was also discussed. Many of the committee members felt that it should not be shown at camp, but rather be made available to each Den. The committee recommended that 5 copies be made and each Den will get one to distribute to the boys in the Den. Pack Purchases: A copy of Quicken should be purchased for the Pack, but we will wait to see whom steps forward to fill the Treasurer position before it is purchased. The Pack will be also look into purchasing a rubber stamp for Deposit Only. Den Chiefs: All Den Leaders are asked to confirm their Den Chiefs for the coming scouting year. If you are interested in getting the help of a Den Chief, please contact Jeff M. or Mike O.. Back to Scouting: Leslie requested that two rooms be secured for Back to Scouting. It will be held on the evening of our Pack Meeting. The event notice should go out the first few days of school. Last year we had 63 scouts. We bridged 15 to Boy Scouts. We will need at least 16 new scouts to make the requirements for Quality Plus. Reminders A representative from each Den should plan to attend the monthly Pack Committee Meetings. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 5, 2002 at 7:30 pm @ St. Paul’s.
