There is also a large number of cultures which offer insight to the future of the human race. These insights do not necessarily project an end to the universe but they do offer interesting prophecies concerning the future situation of the human race.

One such culture is the American Pueblo Indian tribe, the Hopi. Their belief system offers an interesting perspective into the origin and evolution of the human race. The Hopi claim that we are living in the fourth incarnation of our world. They claim there will be approximately nine worlds in all. In the fourth world they claim many of their ancient prophecies have come true. They claim to have predicted the coming of the white man to North America (Turtle Island in their language). They claim to have foreseen the destruction of the earth's environment and prevailing spiritual decay in the world. Their prophecies include the existence of alien life forms and they insist these species are living with us today on earth. As for the future the Hopi see only their culture as being saved from an upcoming destruction of the fourth world. They claim they will be whisked away to the stars by aliens who they claim put them here on earth to learn and to grow. As for the time this is to occur the Hopi are unaware however they see the present state of the world as a sign that the end is near.

The main spokesman of their prophecy today is Robert Morning Sky. He claims that his father helped nurse an injured alien after a crash of a spaceship in 1947. From this he is said to have inherited the history of the human race. The name of the alien his father nursed was Bek'Ti. After his recovery Bek'Ti explained the history of the universe as well as the human place within it. This history professed the existence of many different humanoid races living throughout the universe. He says there was a battle for control of earth between a reptilian race called the Ari-An who descended from dinosaur ancestors in the star sytem Orion and the Kanus Empire, a doglike race from the star system Sirius. This war resulted in the destruction of Earth. As years passed King An sent his son Prince Ea and daughter, Princess Nin-Hur-Sag (both genetic scientists) to rebuild Earth. This was successfully completed. However in the process of rejuvenation Princess Nin-Hur-Sag crossed her DNA with an ape like species creating an intelligent slave race. Over the years the slave race gradually learned to teach itself. But there was also another species that was genetically engineered. This species is known as the Sheti Lizards. These people were said to live underground and were supposed to have revolted against the earth rejuvenators. The Sheti are responsible for turning human knowledge of star people into mythology. The Sheti are not alone in the quest to control Earth. They have been opposed by many other star creatures but these creatures sole purpose remains the control the human race and our resources.

The Mayan culture also offers an interesting insight into the future of humanity. The Mayan civilization of Mesoamerica are well known for their calendar, seen here on the right. Click on the calendar for more information. The Mayan civilization is an extremely fascinating culture however there is little time to touch on that here. For more information I would suggest consulting this site on the Maya. Rather than focusing on Mayan prophecy it is interesting to look at a modern interpretation of the Mayan calendar. Recently there has been interesting research done attempting to understand the modern interpretation of the Mayan end time December 21st 2012.

John Major Jenkins has spent many years investigating the significance of this date. He thinks he cracked the riddle when he began to take precession into account. Precession is the 26,000 year cycle the earth makes due to its wobble. After 26,000 years the earth returns to its original position then proceeds again with its cycle. At the completion of this cycle a dramatic change on earth is projected to occur. Jenkins proposes that the Mayan civilization understood precession and projected a rare cyclic event that will occur on winter solstice 2012. He believes the event will ensue because the ecliptic will align with the Milky Way's galactic equator. This will result in major cataclysm here on earth. For early Mesoamerican sky watchers, the slow approach of the winter solstice sun to the Galactic Centre was seen as a critical process, the end of a World Age. When it occurs it is predicted a channel will open through the winter solstice doorway, up the Sacred Tree (mixture of Galactic equator and the ecliptic), to the Xibalba be¹, then to the centre of the churning heavens, ending in the Heart of Sky. It is unknown exactly what the effects of this alignment will have here on earth but Jenkins foresees a new found growth in spirituality unequivocal to any previous period on earth.
