Eternity's a terrible thought. I mean, where's it all going to end?
-Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

It is perhaps impossible for a mere human being to fully grasp the sheer scale of our Universe. Not only in the physical sense but also in terms of its age. Modern Man has existed on earth for at most a million years, and yet the estimated age of the universe is 15 billion years or more. Such a time scale is completely unimaginable, and yet perhaps more perplexing is the notion of it all coming to an end. We hope to present a simple overview of some of the main theories of science, with links to the work of other, more qualified thinkers in order to provide greater insight to this mind boggling of propositions: the ultimate fate of the universe. We would also like to juxtapose the theories of modern science with the traditional beliefs of various cultures of the world. Contemplating the end of everything is not an endeavor reserved solely for the world of science.
