Warm-up (15 min): Fill in the data retrieval chart about creation stories from the week before. (pass out charts and creation story packets)

Activities:

1. Have students get textbooks for this class period

2. Review main concepts from last week, Schema and Summary

-         Can anyone give us a definition for schema? (write on board)

-         What schema would we use to read this textbook? (list on board)

-         What are elements of a good summary? (list on board)

3. Relate data chart to the concept formation lesson coming in two weeks

4. Read p.255-257 in the textbook and write a one-paragraph summary of the section on the Khmer kingdom

Closure:

Pass in creation story handouts. Pass in textbooks. Come in during break or after school if you are not yet finished with your summary.
