Northland C.O.R.E. Policies

1. Mission:
   To be a source of information for home educators in the Twin Ports and surrounding areas.
2. Goals:
   
   • To sponsor special events (used book sale, workshops, conference, Expert�s Night, etc.).
   • To give information and contact names to those who are new to our homeschooling community.
   • To host quarterly meetings (open to all home educators).
   • To share information on class opportunities and resources.
   • To connect with group leaders and to encourage the formation of new support groups and co-ops.

   All home educators are welcome to participate in C.O.R.E. meetings or events regardless of methods or philosophies of homeschooling. Non-members are welcome at all C.O.R.E. events.

3. Membership:
   Membership is offered to all who are interested in homeschooling. The membership fee is $12 for one year, which includes 8 issues of The Bulletin Board (newsletter), reduced admission to the Home Educators Conference, and a vote in officer elections.

   Nominations will be accepted until April 30th for unfilled offices. Elections will take place at the Annual Members� meeting in May. Officer terms begin on June 1st and are for one year.

5. Board Meetings:
   Board meetings are held approximately 6 - 7 times a year (suggested schedule: June, August, October, January, February, March, and April). The purpose of these meetings will be to discuss and plan events, as well as to receive updates on C.O.R.E. business.
6. Budget:
   A proposed budget for the year will be presented by the officers to the membership group in May at the Annual meeting.
7. Policy Changes:
   Changes or additions to the policies will be voted on by the general membership at the Annual meeting and requires an affirmative vote of 2/3�s of those present and voting to approve the change.

Northland C.O.R.E. Board of Directors Officer Descriptions

Northland C.O.R.E. Coordinator

• Oversees the total function of C.O.R.E.
• Plans yearly schedule and goals
• Directs C.O.R.E. board meetings
• Delegates tasks to appropriate C.O.R.E. officers
• Official spokesperson at/for C.O.R.E. events

Support Group Liaison

• Maintains a list of support group contacts, as well as support group information
• Encourages the formation of new support groups
• Provides networking opportunities for support group leaders and co-ops

Newsletter Editor

• Print articles of interest to area home schoolers
• Compiles events and opportunities for homeschoolers from community resources to include in the newsletter
• Encourages submissions from fellow home schoolers
• Type, layout, photocopy, and mail 8 issues per year (Sept., Oct., Nov., Feb., March, April, May, and July)

Used Book Sale Director

• Determines the date and time of the used book sale, in conjunction with the C.O.R.E. calendar
• Secures a location and organizes setup
• Coordinates volunteers for the used book sale
• Oversees the financial aspects of the used book sale, as well as mails payment to each seller
• Works in conjunction with Advertising Coordinator to advertise event

Experts' Night Director

• Determines date and time for Experts' Night, in conjunction with the C.O.R.E. calendar
• Secures a location and organizes setup
• Coordinates participants, as well as volunteers
• Works in conjunction with Advertising Coordinator to advertise event

Treasurer

• Co-signer on bank account(s) with C.O.R.E. Coordinator
• Reimburses approved C.O.R.E. expenses
• Provides budget updates at C.O.R.E. board meetings

Quarterly Meeting Facilitator

• Secures dates and facility for C.O.R.E. quarterly meetings
• Selects topics to be presented, in conjunction with the C.O.R.E. board
• Coordinates guest speakers/presenters
• Assures facility is properly setup for quarterly meetings
• Facilitates quarterly meetings
• Works in conjunction with Advertising Coordinator to advertise event

Advertising Coordinator

• Maintains list of newspaper/media contacts, calendars, deadlines, and e-mail addresses
• Ensures timely press releases for C.O.R.E. quarterly meetings, as well as other C.O.R.E. sponsored events
