Nontoxic Options in a Toxic World: Our Children, Our Choices

I would like to extend Homeschool Parents the offer of a 1 hour free training on "Toxins within the home". It is a very informational hour, filled with wonderful updates of bad-guy household products and toxins to avoid.

I do these for the city (I will be speaking on Feb 8th at the Open Hands Open Hearts Workshop put on by the Duluth Association for Education of Young Children). This is all informational! NO SELLING or SOLICITING. I will give out references for anyone interested in learning more after I am through.

Opportunity for stay-at-home Moms

You are invited to partner with Michelle Simon (Psychologist & Environmental Health Educator) to work part time from your home. The group is exclusive to stay-at-home Moms. We team up and work around your schedule.

The Training is FREE - It does NOT involve Selling, Soliciting, or Inventorying Anything! We simply Promote Healthy Families while working together.

If you are interested in either opportunity you may contact Michelle at 218-727-8733, or check out the website.

Homeschool Testing Codes

It has come to our attention that at least one school district has instructed homeschoolers taking the PSAT to write down an alternate code (not the one given by the College Board).

They are doing this so that test results get sent to the school and not to the home, thus bypassing the system set up by the test companies for homeschoolers. Please instruct your students to use the homeschool codes in all college testing so that the school district does not get the results.

PLAN TESTS - Secondly, we have recently learned that the St. Paul school district has made it their district-wide policy to NOT allow any homeschooler to take the PLAN test in their high schools.

The makers of the PLAN find this decision very strange. They are allowing YEAH to give the PLAN to any 10th grade homeschool student.

The Girl Scouts-Northern Pine Council

The Girl Scouts-Northern Pine Council has extended an invitation to all home schoolers to use their Duluth facility, Jeannette Pollay.

This would be a wonderful opportunity for your home school group to utilize this facility for it's own program, or just for fun! How about a weekend Mom's retreat?

Formal clinic/workshops are also available on a variety of topics such as:

For more information, please contact Laura Thielges at 218-726-4713.

Families Enriching Education Together

Packets are now available for Families Enriching Education Together (FEET). Our purpose is to enrich your children's home education by providing various group activities which are valuable yet difficult or impossible to implement individually at home.

FEET is not meant to take the place of the home and/or the parents as the primary educator of children. We are offer support for families in the home education of their students.

FEET has a registration fee of $15 per family to cover the costs of the monthly newsletter, which is designed to keep families infomed regarding opportunities they may like to participate in.

If you are interested in receiving a packet, please contact Lori G. at 218-384-3124.
