Florentine Excursion

Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Machiavelli, Lorenzo the Magnificent… Firenze, founded by Cesar, gave birth during the XIVth Century to an immensely dynamic movement that was going to be called “Renaissance”. Innumerable are the great artists born there that created beautiful works of art still making the reputation of Florence.

Painting and architecture as well as an historical and political presentation of the town, will be the focus of our visit so as to understand better what Renaissance means. An architect or an historian will be our guide for an excursion leading you into a better comprehension of this complex town. The second day is open for personal drawing and your own discoveries. We are lodged in a simple hotel very well located in the heart of the city.

Roman excursion

Roma the Eternal City!… First ruled by the Etruscans kings in the VIIth Century B.C. and today playing the role of capital of the unified Italia (1866), including the specially rich periods of the Roman Empire (at the turn of our era) and the Baroque (XVIIth century) from which it got its today’s appearance and style.

This excursion takes place on the three final days of the course. Half a day is reserved for a guided visit to some of the principal monuments of Rome. Our guide is a Roman specialist in art history and archaeology. In mixing sociology with history, and art with philosophy and even politics, he offers us a vivid portrait of Rome from its beginnings until the Baroque.

Another guided visit is also offered in one of the main artistical center of Rome (ex.: the Sistine Chapel…). A day is left completely free for personal excursions, shopping, etc. At the end of the trip, we will celebrate together with a last supper in a good restaurant.

We select a hotel right in the heart of Rome, next to the Quirinale, Colosseo, Teatro Marcello, Piazza Navone, etc. agreeable and comfortable.
