| Then the angel said to the women in reply, "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here for He has been raised just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His diciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and He is going before you to Galilee; There you will see Him.' Behold, I have told you." | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| buddy were doing some volunteer work and we were working extreamly hard helping out. After that days work we went to a local bar and had a fews beers to help us relax, suddenly my friend told me that he was gay; and at first I was just fine with it, after all the church says that being gay is no sin. A few weeks past and news of a gay pride rally was flying around Dallas and my buddy wanted to go and participate, but he also wanted me to come and support him. So my question would be: "Is it Okay to support gay and lesbian rights?" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Brothers and Sisters: If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above not of what is on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with Him in glory. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Eric in Dallas | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Dear Eric, Yours is a question that I get quite frequently now-a-days it seems, what with the Supreme courts allowance of homosexual intercourse and I think that I should start by telling everyone what the church's official stantpoint on homosexuality is. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (#'s 2357-2359) Homsexuality is no sin in itself as many people have deep-seeded homosexual tendencies. It is because of this that homosexuals should be treated with the same respect and honor that you would treat any other person, whther they be straight or gay. But even though homosexuals are still equal in Christ they are called to a life of chastityin that they should not engage in homosexual relations or marrages because that is not God's plan for us (Genesis 19: 1-29; Romans 1:24-27; 1 Corinthians 6:10; 1 Timothy 1:10). But being that we should treat them as equals (and equals deserve equal rights) I say go ahead and support your friend in the gay pride rally for equal rights and representation, but if the subject turns to pro-gay-marrage laws then I suggest that you leave or fall silent for these are issues that the church does not back. Well Eric I hope that answered your question in a nut shell, God Bless. |

| I have always observed Lent untill midnight on Holy Saturday, but the other day I saw my daughter breaking her Lenten promise on Holy Thursday, when I reprimanded her on it she told me that Lent ended the day before Holy Thursday at Sundown. Is this true? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Well Mark first things first, you have a very smart daugher, where did she learn this? In fact this is one of the most unknown Catholic teachings in all of Christendom. As a matter of fact I was a little unsure of it myself. So I called upon the bishop in my diocese (the honorable Bishop Wilton D. Gregory) and placing his hand upon my shoulder he said this: "Michael, Lent officially ends on sundown Wednesday (which was the wednesday before the Triduum). That does not mean however that you can go and eat your pizza and candies. You should still observe your Lenten fast untill Easter sunday or possibly right after attending Easter Vigil mass." All of this seems clearly consistent with the calendarial ( I think I may have made that word up) numbers. If we count from Ash Wednesday (March 5, 2003) all the way to the day before the first day of the Triduum, Holy Thursday (April 16, 2003), we conclude that there are forty days in between the two, minus the Sundays which are not considered part of the Lenten season. Well Mark I hope this answers your question. God Bless. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
