An international adoption requires a substantial number of documents, and the requirements are different depending on the parents’ home country, state, province or county.   We will work with you and your social worker to help ensure that your paperwork is complete and processed promptly and correctly.

The Ukrainian Government requires that parents put together a ‘DOSSIER’.  This group of papers is approximately the same  regardless of the country of origin, and it includes the following:

  • Home Study
  • Photocopy of the license of whoever does the Home Study
  • Birth Certificates of parent (s)
  • Marriage Certificate (if married couple)
  • Proof of Accommodation (Mortgage, Deed or Lease)
  • INS Approval (I–171H form) for The Americans
  • Home Office approval for the British
  • Undertaking by the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga  and  Letter of No-Objection by the relevant province for the Canadians
  • Acceptance of visa application by The Netherlands for the Dutch parents
  • Whatever is required in the home country of other parents
  • Photocopies of bearer’s information of parent(s) passports
  • Power of Attorney
  • Post Placement Agreement
  • Letter of Intent to Adopt
  • Extract of the Adoption Law from your home area

Each of the above papers has a specific format.  Some must be notarized, some must have additional verification.  Much of the documentation can be arranged simultaneously, for example, the INS approval and Home Study.  Much of the rest of the ‘paperchase’ can also be done at the sametime. We will guide you through this process.
