Saturday
Saturday morning, I woke up late and sick as hell. I have Dan to thank for that. The shots of Wild Turkey were his idea. I can only hope to repay him one day with double shots of Liquid Heroin. As soon as I felt well enough to get out of bed, we took off for the Denver Skatepark. The Denver Skatepark is a free outdoor facility, and you don't have to wear pads or helmets. The words "Skatepark", "Free", and "No pads" would probably get you 15 years in Northern State back east. We went out with Dan and Mike (Dan's roommate). Now, I'm no skateboarder, so I can only quote the others-- "This is the greatest thing I have ever skated"- John "This is the greatest thing I have ever skated"- Jay "I skate this all the time, it's great!"- Mike That's right, you heard it here first. For the record, it was the greatest thing I have ever filmed where people were skating. The pic above is John knocking it off the hook again. Here's a couple video clips: John in a BIG BOWL(LOW RES)John busts his ass(LOW RES) John up the steps(LOW RES)
After doing time at the park, we headed West to Red Rock park. I wanted to show these guys the Ampitheater, because it's this big crazy stage tucked back in the mountains, but it was under renovation. We went for a short hike instead. This is Dan, in his neverending attempt to look cool no matter where he is.
This is John, ducking down to stay out of sight. You see, when it comes to things like this, a short hike is never good enough for John and I. We have to take it to the highest level. In this case, it was a long steep hike up the slickrock to the peak, way past the signs that say "Do not pass, $1,000,000 fine, 99 years in Jail, etc". That doesn't mean we're stupid about it though, that's why he's ducking. Here's a video of him following me up (LOW RES).
Me on the other hand. I'm right in their face, saying "If you want to fine me, you're gonna have to try to come up and get me. HERE I AM." So that's me standing at the peak, in my neverending attempt to look spooky. And of course, a nice high res video of just how high we were.
On the way back down, we got the group photo together. Left to right is Jay, Dan, John, and Myself. Then we headed back for Dans to pack it up and head for the mountains.
The only way you can really describe the road though the mountains is this -- James Bond. If you've ever seen any bond movie, where he's hauling ass in whatever car around all kinds of twisting, curvy mountain roads, you know what I'm saying. We got to Breckenridge late Saturday night, checked in at the Great Divide Lodge, and went to sleep. This is Jay and John on the balcony. Next |
