2001 the Task Force on Child Protection on the Internet was established by
the Home Office. It is a unique partnership of Government, Industry, police and
charitable organisations, working together to tackle the danger posed to
children by online paedophiles.
In July 2001 the task force reported back to the Home Secretary and made a
number of proposals, one of them being for a public awareness campaign to
deliver clear and consistent safety messages so that Internet users can enjoy
the massive benefits of the Internet in safety.
This website provides information to help parents advise their children on
chatting safely online. As part of the campaign a booklet has been produced
which provides additional tips and advice which can be downloaded from the site.
