Dress. The 1 goalkeeper must wear different colors to distinguish him
from the other players in the team must wear uniform jerseys or shirt, shorts, and socks. 2 Shin pads re
an optional protection. 3 Boots may be studded or have bars of leather and rubber across the soles. Studs
must be of solid leather, rubber, plastic, aluminum, or similar material, but they must be rounded and
not less than ½ in diameter or more than ¾ in long from the mounting. Studs that are molded
as part of the sole must be of a soft material; provided that there are at least 10 studs on each sole, the
minimum diameter of each stud may be 3/8 in. 4 Gloves are frequently worn by goalkeepers. Numbers are
usually worn on the back of the jersey. Players may not wear anything that could injure another player,
particularly faulty studs. Any player wearing dangerous equipment may be expelled from the game until it is replaced.
Teams. Each team has 11 players, one of whom is the goalkeeper.
Substitutes. One or two substitutes are usually permitted,
depending on the competition and for any reason, but must be named before the game. Once substituted, a
player may not return to the game. The referee must be informed of any substitution. In the event of an
injury, an outfield player may become the goal keeper provided he obtains the referee's permission and
wear's a distinctive jersey.
