Program Overview
The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies  (BIS) program at Arizona State University has allowed me to tackle two unique areas of study, and then to integrate them as a means for solving greater and wider-reaching problems.

Like any degree program, the BIS program requires certain courses as a foundation to learning.  Among these are mathematics, cultural awareness, English language and composition, and foreign language.

The BIS curriculum requires two areas of concentration in lieu of the single area of study in most degree programs. By combining two or more of these concentrations, BIS students have the opportunity to learn about several areas, and be able to draw on a larger pool of knowledge in order to solve problems on an interdisciplinary level.

To ensure this, the core of the BIS program includes four interdisciplinary courses whose sole purpose was to encourage me to look at problems from multiple perspectives.  Interdisciplinary thinking will ensure that I will have the tools I need to succeed in the job market, and in other areas of life.
