Gazette Page 3
This last year has been one of trouble and grief. The land has fallen under an evil spell which blights our crops and supplies. We highlanders are resilient in our ways, and used tae hardship, but it's a sore thing that I must write that there are many who have seen their last spring afore now.
The trouble is due to all that is happening out in the world, and the Conclave seem to be all powerful. Our faction was not successful at the Gathering battle, and hence we must suffer the consequences which are beyond our means. Not only that, but it is forseen that a new cataclysm has begun. My bones tell me it is so.
I urge yea therefore tae look tae yer defences and tae yer kin. My all o' the gods protect ye.
The Gathering of Nations 1105
I am sure that you all hea heard the sad news frae the Gathering concerning Alexander Ewan of Strath Rannoch. He was killed by ents and treemen when several o' the clan went tae the aid o' the Harts faction at a place called Blubell Wood. Many Caledonians were killed that day, but we will surely lament the passing o' the finest carpenter in all o' the Hielands. Sandy, was a guid friend o' us all, and he will be missed.
On better news, the position o' faction champion passed frae Angus, tae Robert, at the faction contest. As you know Rab is a guid swordsman, (although he was beaten at the Hartland games by a goblin), and we are sure that he will represent the faction and the clan wi honour, as did Angus.
Rob also won the Bog's Hole bardic contest, which was designed tae find the greatest bard in Edreja. The prize was indeed a fortune, and Rab was rightly honoured wi' it. He will also be buying drinks at the clan council.
Mary Cloddagh became a squire tae the Morrigan hersel', and heather carried on her bonny work as Thane o' the Ravenswing.
