First day at Lynn's place. Gosh, it's big; about a million times bigger than my cage at the pet shop. It's so big, I got agoraphobia for the first time in my life. It's so big, I did what any other cat would do in my place -- I hid under the couch!

Lynn left me! My second day at her place and she left me!!
She took me away from everything that's familiar to me... put me in a place that's gigantic and alien to me and she left me, all alone... Goody, let's throw a party! Arghsss� Lynn got Adik and Shila to baby sit me.

Lynn came back from wherever it was she went off to in thefirst place. Pretended to be friendly with Adik and totally ignored Lynn. That should teach her to leave without my permission. One has to teach one's human who is Boss.

Lynn got me a whole fried chicken from the pasar malam (night market) to celebrate our one week together. She ended up eating most of it. Goodness, that girl sure can eat. Correction: Lynn's place is NOT a million times bigger than my cage. It's only about a hundred thousand times bigger.

Laze around day for everyone. Lynn got up to feed me and then went back to sleep. Spent the morning watching cartoons on TV with Shila (she works for an animation company. Cool, huh?)

Second week in new home. Some friends came over to see Lynn; was a big hit with them. Must get Lynn to get more friends to come and admire me. Correction: the apartment's only about a thousand times bigger than my old cage.

Third week in new home. Got a great routine going:
Get up, get Lynn to feed me breakfast, get Lynn to play with me until I'm bored, get Lynn to leave me alone for my morning nap, get Lynn to feed me lunch, get Lynn to leave me alone for my afternoon nap, get Lynn to feed me dinner, get Lynn to play with me till my supper, sit at the balcony until Lynn goes to sleep, jump on Lynn every now and then just to see if she'd wake up (nope; she sleeps like a log).

New strategy... Meowed menacingly until Gracie went to hide in Lynn�s room. Then sat and block the door, and when she tried to go out, meowed menacingly again. Hah, she's trapped inside the room! If you can't beat 'em, frustrate 'em, I say. Strategy was working very well... until Lynn figured out the whole thing and shut the door to the room. Could hear Gracie laughing from inside. Damn!

Lynn is tired of the fighting and decided to keep Gracie in the room til I am nicer to Gracie. Fat chance, she bit me first! Gracie got to eat all her meals in the room and Lynn went to check on her every time Gracie meowed. I have to eat my meals in the kitchen and� heyyyyyyyy, who's the boss around here?

One month in new home. Made a deal with Gracie. Will only bother her at certain times of the day. In turn she lets me sleep about three feet away from her. Not the best of deals but it'll do for now.

Get up, get Lynn to feed me breakfast, get Lynn to play with me, take my morning nap, get Lynn to feed me lunch, make lots of noise til Lynn lets me into Gracie's room, harass Gracie until I'm sleepy, take my afternoon nap, get Lynn to feed me dinner, make lots of noise until Lynn lets me into Gracie's room and harass Gracie. When I'm bored with that, get Lynn to let me out of the apartment, wander around other people�s apartment area til I�m bored, go back home, then sleep.

Eve of Merdeka (Independence) Day. Sat on the balcony with Lynn to watch the fireworks at midnight. Pretty cool stuff. Tried to get Shila to watch it as well but she was too tired and refused to wake up.

Overheard Lynn talking to Shila about taking me to the vet to neuter me. She said it would stop me from harassing Gracie, who's already neutered. What's a vet? What's neuter? An ice-cream parlour? An ice-cream flavour? Is that why Gracie is so fat?

Lynn : School holidays. My mother and nephew came to stay with us for a few days. Chuwy took one look at them and went straight into hiding. Gracie, who is not at all shy with people, took advantage of the situation to come out of her hiding place and taunted Chuwy at every opportunity she got.

Lynn: Chuwy got into his first fight last night. I didn't see the other cat but I think Chuwy came off the worse. He was bleeding a bit from a few scratches -- none of them deep, thank God -- but enough to shake his confidence. He spent the rest of the night licking his wounds ... and looking startled at the slightest noise. Poor guy...
With Chuwy preoccupied, Gracie took the opportunity to wander around the apartment and she slept in the living room (instead of my bedroom) for the first time.

Lynn: Chuwy went out last night and came back limping. I guess he got himself into another fight. Either that... or he sprained his leg trying to run away from the other cat. It doesn't look too bad, it should be fine in a few days. In the mean time, he can't chase after Gracie anymore, so she's enjoying the respite. She probably taunts him too, judging by the dirty looks Chuwy threw her way.

Lynn decided not to neuter me -- whatever neuter means.
I know that most vets and cat lovers recommend neutering... It's more beneficial for their health, and it helps to keep down the number of stray and unwanted cats (how many times have you seen thin, sickly and hungry cats begging for scraps of food?). However, (please correct me if I am wrong on this) there is a thought in Islam that discourages neutering, on the ground that it meddles with the natural state. It is not exactly wrong to neuter; eg. if there is a problem with their health and neutering can help then by all means do so. But a healthy cat is a different matter.
Gracie's previous owner had her neutered and since Chuwy mainly stays indoor... I believe there is no need to neuter him � for now. If you have a different thought on this matter, please e-mail us at:

Adik and her friend, Mud (what a name, eh?) came for a short stay. Adik said she has a cold and just wanted some time away from school to recover from it. So what is she doing watching those films on VCD all night long? Shouldn't she be in bed or something?
With the two of them around, Gracie started acting up (they much prefer her to me, I don't know why). Twice when I walked past her, she hit me -- for absolutely no reason at all! Ow. That was when Lynn finally realised that it was Gracie all along who started all our fights. The title of official "samseng" (gangster) now goes to Gracie and she has a new nickname -- Bonnie (from Bonnie & Clyde).

Another wet and cold day. It has been raining for the past few days, so I've stayed indoor. What's the point of going out? All the other cats wouldn't be out either, so there won't be anyone for me to beat up. Plus, it's so much nicer to curl up and sleep.
